Amelia Island, one of the Sea Islands chain down the east coast of the United States. The island chain stretches from South Carolina down to Florida, and Amelia Island is right down at the southern end. The island is a popular tourist destination due to its great beaches and warm climate, and makes a great place for a family holiday. And with a wide selection of rental homes available for nightly or weekly rental, it can be a surprisingly low cost destination to visit.
The obvious attraction of Amelia Island is its 13 miles or so of quartz sand beaches, and any family holiday to the barrier island will include at least one day at the beach. Away from the beaches, however, the island also boasts no fewer than six golf courses, and the Amelia Island Plantation resort features the Amelia River Course and the Oakmarsh Course, while the Golf Club of Amelia Island can be found at the Summer Beach Resort. Fernandina Beach also features a lovely downtown district full of shops and restaurants for a spot of nightlife. In addition to shopping, sand and golf, there are also a huge number of other outdoor pursuits available on the island, including kayaking, horseback riding on the beach, hiking, cycling and fishing. It's a great place to go for a healthy outdoors break!
With a huge number of condo and apartment rentals available on Amelia Island, it is easy to find money saving deals, and rental homes are available from as little as £400 a week, which will work out much cheaper than booking hotel rooms. Also, with the added privacy and greater amount of space in a rented home, you will find it easier to relax on your Florida holiday. And as most of the properties have sea views, including a huge number near Fernandina Beach, and many have private pools, it will feel like a real luxury holiday. You can even rent quirky historic properties for a really individual holiday, including at least one lighthouse! And with the extra space, rental apartments are really great for kids - they can run around and let off steam without worrying about disturbing other residents and holidaymakers!
