The property was very clean and comfortable. The owner, Val was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The views were amazing and the local pub served good food. Thankyou for a lovely stay.More

Excellent, dog-friendly accommodation in a part of England that we love. Normally camp nearby but decided on a bit of luxury. Brilliant location, just a short distance from Keswick. Friendly and helpful owner. Spotless house with spectacular views in both directions. Both pubs in the...More

This place has stunning views in a classic location for all walks in the northern lakes. The lodge is warm very clean and has great beds👍

About the neighbourhood
Guests looking for a walking holiday can quite literally step out their front door and onto the lower slopes of Blencathra, taking them on to a number of walks including Sharps Edge, Skiddaw House and Lowscales (the later two can also be ridden on mountain bikes). Threlkeld is a peaceful, traditional lakeland village which has two village inns both of which serve local ales and bar meals, a coffee shop, Post Office.The village is ideally situated for Keswick and Derwentwater, the Central Lake District. Offering numerous attractions including Beatrix Potter, William Wordsworth, Go Ape, spectacular mountain scenery, lakeland villages and lakes. Alternatively head west to Cockermouth the birth place of William Wordsworth and Jennings Brewery.
Getting around
The village is ideally situated for Keswick, which is only four miles away, and is easily accessible by car, local bus or by walking along the old railway line. The village has easy access to the Central Lake District, Ambleside and Windermere is approximately a 25-35 minute drive. The main local bus route which can take you east to Penrith or west via Keswick runs every hour from the bottom of Blease Road. Once in Keswick you are able to take the regular bus route in to the central Lakes or continue west to Cockermouth.

Railway: Penrith: 20.0 km
Threlkeld is 15 minutes off the M6 heading on the A66 west, and just 4 miles away from Keswick. Turning left off the A66 into the bottom of the village drive past both village pubs and the church on your left handside. On the next bend take the turning on your right up (Blease Road). Driving up the hill passing the village school on your right and then a car park also on your right. You will find The Bungalows Guesthouse and self catering cottages approx 50 meters after the car park on your left hand side. Sunnyside isin the middles of our (white) building.
