The Museum Hotel is a truly unique property steeped in local history. This award-winning property dating back to the 1800s is now available on Airbnb to be rented as an entire property or individual rooms. Either way, it promises to be an unparalleled experience for its guests. Designed as an alternative to large commercial hotels, it caters to the discerning traveler searching for a more intimate hotel and customer experience. Its original charm and history have been preserved for a new generation - and those to come. The space You'll arrive here after winding your way through this little village. The hotel sits on 400 m2 of gardens you're welcome to explore during your stay. The main building is relatively unscathed (or unchanged) after two centuries and several wars and earthquakes. Entering this extraordinary property is like stepping back in time to another more genteel era where the guests are graciously, and diligently attended to. The main building has six guest rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms, while a separate building houses a cozy restaurant and a basement kitchen. The main building's GROUND FLOOR, once dedicated to farming activities, today houses three elegant hotel rooms furnished with heirlooms: Euphoria: This 45 m2 room once the center of the property's wine production activities and held a large wine press. Today, that press has been converted into the base of a king-sized bed. Anticlea: The stone containers of olive oil were once stored in this room that is now is part of a two-story maisonette. The bedroom is on the second floor. There is a single bed on the ground floor and a queen/double bed on the second floor (Eleni details below). Eros: The third 30 m2 guest room with a queen/double bed was once a bare stone room that was used initially as a drying room for cheese production. Today, it's an adorable hideaway for guests seeking the ultimate in privacy. The FIRST FLOOR (one floor up from the ground floor) is divided into four guest rooms: Armonia (Harmony): This 28 m2 guest room with a queen/double bed is a pleasant, light-filled space with four windows. Its name and ambiance represent the main character of the entire property: universal harmony. Penelope: This cozy room with two single beds is 15 m2 is smaller than the others but equally welcoming. This room can be rented together with Armonia for an ideal suite for four guests. Eleni (Helen) is the third guest room on this floor and has 27 m2. It is the upstairs bedroom to Anticlea, the guest room/maisonette at ground level below it. This beautiful guest room has a queen/double bed. The room's highlights include a collection of books, paintings, and other collectibles creating a sophisticated ambiance. Hotel’s history: This beautiful property was once the home of a prominent family beginning at the start of the 1800s. Like many families at the time, they eventually emigrated to Braila, Romania, but returned to the home by 1895. They began to expand the property creating one of the most notable houses in the village. Today, the property has been converted into a small boutique hotel by a member of the original family, Mrs. Katerina Dima, retaining most of its original furnishings, accessories, and family heirlooms. Katerina personally oversaw the refurbishment of the magnificent house into the sanctuary it is today for discerning travelers wanting a more personalized hotel experience. The renovation pays homage to the founding family as well as traditional Kefalonian life in the 19th century. It is a refuge for those who appreciate history, architecture, and preservation. Each guest room features the following: - The hotel's guest and public rooms contain heirloom furniture passed down through the generations. - There are six individually decorated and well-appointed luxury rooms. - Individually controlled A/C - Central Heating - Continuous hot water - Free Wi-Fi in all rooms and public areas - Bathrooms have bathtubs or pressure showers. - Fine 100% cotton bed linen - Organic Aloe Verra toiletries - Each guest room includes dressing gowns (bathrobes), washcloths, and slippers for guests' use during their stay. - Hairdryers and full body mirrors - Private safes in all guest rooms - C.D. players with a selection of music to choose from - Large Selection of books for guests to borrow from. - Private verandas as well as a shared courtyard - Jacuzzi and Sauna installations Hotel features: - Eco-friendly building construction and practices: recycling, energy saving, and water saving - A certified Greek breakfast using local produce - Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are available. - Personal guiding for individual exploring of Kefalonia can be arranged. - Widescreen homeMore
