The Old Bakery is a lovely cottage in a pretty village - tastefully decorated and well equipped - walking distance to the village shop and couple of pubs. Fab base for exploring the peaks with lovely walks from the doorstep.

About the neighbourhood
The local towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock Bath, each famous in its own right, offer culture, shopping, restaurants and traditional markets and if you still have energy, there is always the famous theme park of Alton Towers. The beautiful village of Ashford-in-the-Water lies near the heart of the Peak District, three miles from the bustling market town of Bakewell, five miles from Buxton, famous for its spa and waters, and less than 15 miles from Sheffield. There are excellent walks from the door, especially down Deep Dale to reach the River Wye or down Lathkill Dale and Cressbrook Dales down to Monsal Dale and Monsal Head. Cressbrook Dale and Tansley Dale are famous for their wild flowers, as are several other local dales. In the summer, Ashford in the Water and many other local villages create unique well dressings from flower petals. And we have our very own Sheldon Day, including a Poultry show and Dog show. At Christmas time, the area hosts a range of Christmas activities, such as carols in the caves at Castleton, music by local brass bands, events at nearby Chatsworth House, Xmas markets and whole villages dressed with Christmas lights..
