Stay with us in your own luxuriously rustic cabin in the woods. Your Cabin comes with free bikes to use to explore historic Kennicott and McCarthy, and the natural beauty of the Wrangell Mountains. Spend the night away from the hustle and bustle of downtown McCarthy, but close enough to walk or bike to downtown McCarthy to have a nice meal, get a beer, take part in Thursday night open mic or Friday night softball game, visit the museum, catch some live music, or take the shuttle up the Kennicott. Each cabin is equipped with super comfy beds (either 2 full size or 1 queen size), a kitchenette (with a single burner cooktop, dishware, and running water), a shared gas grill with plenty of pots and pans, a drinking water filtration system, refreshing outdoor showerhouses with unlimited hot water (also considered a luxury in this neck of the woods!), real Alaskan outhouses, 100% cotton or bamboo linens and towels, a propane heater in each cabin (allowing for year round reservations!), free bicycles, and multiple fire rings for campfires! We now offer private guided Glacier Hikes on the Root Glacier for your group of 2-4 or if you'd prefer to explore on your own, we offer crampon rentals! Don’t be shy about calling and asking about road and weather conditions, and what’s happening now that you just can’t miss out on… There’s always some adventure waiting here in the Wrangells! It is the largest (and we think the most beautiful!) National Park in the United States and we hope you will join us here to the enjoy the Wrangell Mountains for your Alaskan adventure!More

The cabin was beautiful with all the amenities necessary to give my out of town family comfort while being immersed in the outdoors. They struck the perfect balance between comfort and rustic.

About the neighbourhood
McCarthy, Alaska was not the first town established to support the mining town of Kennicott. The town of Blackburn was first established in the early 1900’s as a settlement of hopeful workers and businessmen. In 1911, the Blackburn Roadhouse was built. It was a two-story structure built with logs and milled wood, and at the time it was considered the “biggest log structure in the district.” After a two year boom, Blackburn faced a sudden economic downturn caused by the Shushanna gold rush. Because its location was not on the direct route of the Copper River and Northwestern Railway, Blackburn did not endure. The Blackburn schoolhouse was hauled to Kennicott and the remaining buildings fell into disrepair.
Getting around
We provide transportation to and from the footbridge upon arrival and departure. Bicycles are provided to each cabin for the duration of your stay. You may also take the Wrangell Mountain Shuttle between McCarthy and Kennicott for $10 per person one way or $15 per person round trip.
