Review for August 2023
We stayed at Swallows Cottage near Congleton for 1 week as we were attending a family wedding. Upon arrival we were very impressed with the accommodation. The cottage itself was very clean, well presented and had vibes of a traditional English country cottage. The beds were comfortable, both rooms had their own ensuite and the twin had a bath which was ideal as we our 2 year old daughter came along with us. The kitchen was very well equipped, better than most, and it was very useful having our own washing machine in the utility area. The cottage is on the outskirts of Congleton but it is only a very short drive away and all the required shops etc are within a 10-15 minute drive. There is also plenty to do in the area for people of all ages, just depends what you're in to. The owners Brenda and Tom (I hope I've remembered that right) are lovely, never intrusive but always friendly and happy to chat/answer any questions you may have. They were able to recommend lots to do in the area. We visited Glebe Farm petting zoo (which was free) based on Brenda's recommendation and it was a huge hit with our daughter and a great way to kill a morning or afternoon. The cottage itself is on a small working farm and they were more than happy to let us wander around and look at the animals/machinery, which I personally thought was fantastic and the little one loved it too, especially the horses. All in, we had a great holiday and it was only made better by the quality of the accommodation. If we are ever in the area again then we will definitely be going back to stay at Swallows Barn without a doubt. Thanks Brenda and Tom for helping make a great family holiday.

Excellent cottage definitely 5 stars
One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in, visited several times over the last few years. Spacious yet cozy cottage furnished to a high standard, well equipped kitchen, extremely comfortable beds . Always spotlessly clean. Brenda a very welcoming host, Tom happy to show you around the farm. Both have extensive knowledge of the area with ideas for visits. Excellent location to see Cheshire,The Peak District, Manchester or even the North West Coast.

Beautiful, comfortable "home-away-from-home".
We stayed at Swallows Barn at least once a year for many years now and would highly recommend this property. It is extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean and Brenda is a very accommodating and helpful host. We definitely consider it our home-away-from-home when we visit Congleton and look forward to each of our visits.

Exceptional stay at Swallows Barn
Swallows Barn is ideally located in rural Cheshire close to Bosley canal, Congleton and with the Peak Diistrict and Buxton being a short drive away and not far from the attractions of Cheshire and Chester. There are many lovely National Trust places near as well as towns like Macclesfield. Swallows Barn is exceptionally clean and comfortable and very well equipped. Brenda is a very caring host and her thoughtfulness is seen by the little touches like flowers.

Outstanding
We have stayed at Swallows Barn several times & always find it a perfect place to stay. Exceptionally clean, well appointed, spacious cottage with great attention to detail by the owners, to ensure a consistent high standard. The beds are comfortable with quality bedding & new sofas also excellent. Plenty of off road parking. Ideally situated for exploring this beautiful area as well as being within easy reach of Chester, & Manchester etc. Brenda, Tom & Jennie are perfect hosts, with great local knowledge, happy to give you ideas for walks or days out, or show you around their working farm. Looking forward to our next stay

Our home away from home
We have stayed at Swallows Barn several times and we now consider it our "home away from home" when we are visiting family in Congleton. The location is perfect for exploring the Cheshire or Peak District and is just outside Congleton which has a wealth of restaurants. The accommodations are perfect for our family of 4 with each bedroom having its own bathroom. Downstairs is equipped with a comfortable living area, full kitchen, a separate laundry room with washer/dryer and toilet. The cottage is spotless Brenda makes you feel extremely welcome with fresh flowers and a jug of milk in the fridge. As we have mostly stayed here over the Christmas period, she makes sure that we feel festive with a beautiful Christmas tree and decorations. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Holiday
Just spent 2 weeks at Swallows Cottage, Colley Mill Farm. Amazing accommodation absolutely spotlessly clean with everything you could need, a real home from home. Greeted on arrival by Brenda who made us feel so welcome. There were some nice little touches like a vase of fresh flowers on the table and a jug of milk in the frig. Brenda made the time to take us on a tour of the farm and introduce us to Bess the sheepdog who became a firm favourite with us. Brenda was always on hand with advise on interesting places to visit in the area. Thank you Brenda and Tom for helping to make our holiday such a success. Hope to make a return visit in the not too distant future.

Excellent accommodation
We had a relaxing stay at this beautiful cottage in a great location for walking along the Macclesfield Canal and exploring the area. Brenda, the lovely owner, has furnished the cottage to a very high standard and it was spotlessly clean. We would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

About the neighbourhood
This must be one of the most beautiful areas in England - from the Cheshire plains - to the fabulous 'Peaks' of the Peak District and Staffordshire. There is an abundance of things to see and to do - whatever your interest may be. Lovely quaint villages with their own annual well dressings or fetes, market towns with outdoor markets, and the spa town of Buxton with its original well of healing water, pavilion gardens and historic Opera House. Canals - such as Macclesfield canal with its 12 locks at Bosley and other waters such as Rudyard Lake, Tittesworth Reservoir and the three reservoirs at Langley are there to be enjoyed. The Gritstone Trail and Pennine Way can be accessed nearby, as can Macclesfield Forest and Delamere Forest, rural pubs and restaurants. Golf courses to play golf, reservoirs for sailing, rocks to climb, horses to ride, fishing lakes to fish , a local brewery to enjoy, Alton Towers for a theme park or 'go ape' in the woodlands - the list of interesting places to see and activities to do are endless! The roman town of Chester with its racecourse and Zoo are under an hour away. We can guarantee that there is something for everyone of all ages in this lovely area. But be warned - once seen - you will have to return again and again to further enjoy the fabulous countryside and local experiences on offer.
