This is a picture postcard 700 year old cottage (yes, 700 years old!) in the centre of the highly acclaimed and easy accessible village of Hartington, superbly situated adjacent to the Rover Dove.
Not only have all those, without exception, who have posted reviews on this web site given us 5 stars, but the cottage is also graded 5 Star by the country's official grading organisation VisitEngland, something which only a very small percentage of cottages achieve. In the grading process, the Inspectors has also awarded an almost unheard of 100% for standards of housekeeping (cleaning) on each of their annual visits over the last ten years.
There are three bedrooms, sleeping two in each room and each room has the benefit of a spacious en-suite, one of them a full size bathroom. The original 700 year old (!) cruck beams can still be seen...

This cottage is perfectly situated in the centre of Hartington for walks. The village has 2 pubs plus a café and 2 small grocery shops all within a few yards of the cottage which are excellent and friendly. My wife and I had a fantastic...More

A more-than-excellent accommodation. We arrived in a snow storm and entered a cosy shelter from the elements. Nice touches were the lights and heating being on and a welcoming bottle of wine on the table. Could not be bettered.

About the neighbourhood
Hartington is one of the most highly regarded villages in the Peak, famous for shop selling genuine Stilton and other cheeses, geese pond, hall and fine old stone buildings. The approach down a long dale to the village from the main road really takes some beating. The River Dove is only a few hundred yards away and a very popular walk starts in the village, over some lovely meadows to the River, along the stretch known as Berefsford Dale, which in turn leads onto Wolfscote Dale and the most famous Dale of the Peak, Dovedale.

There are numerous footpaths and bridle ways in the immediate vicinity, offering unrivalled walking in the best part of the White Peak. The highly popular Tissington Trail, which runs for 17 miles, is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and is just 1 mile from...

Detailed directions are sent prior to guests arrival, but Hartington is very accessable being a very easy two miles away (along a fairly straight B road) from a trunk road, the A515, half way between Buxton and Ashbourne. The accessability of Hartington means that once there, getting around the Peak District, is also extremely easy.
For those travelling from abroad we would advise that we are half way between Manchester to the north (whose airport is one hour away)and Birmingham and its two airports Birminghan and East midlands Airport - the latter is also one hour away - to the south. 80 miles from Hull Docks (for ferries from Holland and Belgium)(two hours driving time) and 4 and a half hours from Dover.
