The Tamara apartment is very close to the sea and in an excellent spot for viewing wildlife. It is also next to Aith meadows, a site of special scientific interest area due to the abundance of wild flowers. It has beautiful views overlooking the marina at the head of Aithsvoe. Aithsvoe is noted for its excellent trout fishing, the water being half salt and half fresh due to freshwater burns. No permit is required. It is a recently refurbished detached property on the east side of the village of Cunningsburgh, 10 miles south of Lerwick. On site parking is available. The local hall has Sunday Teas with car boot sales throughout the summer months. A well stocked farm shop and cafe is nearby. About the neighbourhood
Tamara is situated in the centre of the wider Cunningsburgh area, off a side road off the loop road which runs around the village.The location is close to the edge of Aith Voe where seals can often be seen, which means fabulous views over the voe and south to the marina are enjoyed. Cunningsburgh has a local primary school, a well-used community hall, a local farm shop and a marina (which can be seen from the house). Further amenities are available at Sandwick about four miles to the south and Lerwick is also within easy reach.
Getting around
If you want to see the best of Shetland, you’ll need a car. There are high quality roads in Shetland and regular inter-island ferries to the isles of Bressay, Whalsay, Yell, Unst and Fetlar. If you need to hire a car, the local firms are: Bolts Car Hire and Star Rent-a-Car Information on Taxi operators and timetables for ferries, buses and inter-island flights are available on the ZETTRANS website. There are many boat tour operators as you get a spectacular view of the scenery and wildlife from the water.
