All bed linen and towels are provided as well as a welcome pack of basic provisions, together with bathroom and kitchen sundries .A complimentary hamper of Welsh goodies is also provided. Downstairs the sitting-room/dining area and kitchen are open-plan with a downstairs shower room and plenty of storage. Upstairs, there are two eaves bedrooms, one double and one twin-bedded room and large landing cupboard with hanging space. There is an award-winning pub/restaurant in the nearby village of Pumsaint which is about one mile from Brynhyfryd Cottage. About the neighbourhood
The world renowned Dolaucothi Roman Goldmines are within approximately one mile of the cottage and well worth a visit. There are several good pubs with eating facilities within a 5 mile radius of the cottage and the award-winning Dolaucothi Arms in nearby Pumsaint is about a mile from the cottage, serves great home-cooked food and welcomes well-behaved dogs. There is a wealth of country walks in the area including nearby Caio and Brechfa Forests ideal for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. There are numerous castles such as Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr as well the Botanic Gardens of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens together with spectacular coastal locations such as Aberaeron and New Quay within a half hour drive from the cottage.
Getting around
As this is a rural area, a car is the best way for getting about. The nearest main line station is at Llanwrda about 7 miles from Brynhyfryd Cottage which runs through to Swansea in one direction and Shrewsbury in the other (the Heart of Wales line)..There is a bus service to Lampeter and Carmarthen and plenty of taxi services in the area but a car is highly recommended.
