About the neighbourhood
Leysdown is a very popular seaside resort with the usual amusements, restaurants, amenities and leisure facilities, all of which are within easy walking distance of the Chalet. The beach has a European blue flag rating. Leysdown regularly has various visiting fun-fairs and it holds a famous carnival in the summer. A number of boot fairs take place on some week days and at every weekend. At Shellness just a few miles away at the farthest tip of the island, there is a bird sanctuary which you can visit and makes for a very leisurely day out. It is also famous for it's attachment to one of the first manned aviation flights.
Getting around
There is a regular local bus route to and from Sheerness, where you can get the mainline train into Sittingbourne. There are some good cab companies operating in the town too.
