For more than 20 years the combination of the Great House and Exmoor has been the perfect house and perfect location for your house party. The Great House is the ideal country house rental getaway, a people friendly house (children and adults), located in the beautiful South West on the Somerset/Devon borders and in the Exmoor National Park. Ten Bedrooms , Seven Bathrooms, farmhouse kitchen, large lounge with open fireplace and woodburner, second lounge with baby grand, dinning room seats 22, Games room with table tennis, pool room, bar, outdoor chess; there is also plenty of car parking at the front of the house, walled child safe garden with ample space to relax and soak up (literally) that great British weather. There is also a large patio at the front of the house where you can quietly sit and sip champagne (sorry not supplied) and watch the sun go down over the village. Conversly, if you feeling energetic you can always take a stroll around the seven acres of woods. So whether it's an old fashioned beach holiday coupled with a bit of surfing, or an activity filled holiday with lots of new pursuits or just a relaxing holiday with time to take in the exceptional countryside and a few hostelries, the combination of Exmoor and the Great House will do it for you. 19 of us stayed for my brother's stag do and we genuinely couldn't have been happier with The Great House. The house itself has nearly everything you could ask for, right down to the high quality of the table tennis bats and seemingly endless balls!...More

Thanks very much Sam for what is an amazing review. I am glad it went so well, and thanks for other recommendations. The tidying up was pretty good as well. Hope to see you again sometime. Cheers Terry Terry

Beautiful house in a lovely location. There were 22 of us and we ranged in ages from 7-88 and there was plenty of room to be able to be quiet or to be all together. Terry, the owner, could not have been more helpful in...More

We are about 45 minutes off the M5 at Bridgwater and about the same from the M5 at Taunton. If you head along the A39 towards Minehead, about 2 miles before Minehead you come to some traffic lights (a rare occurrence down here). The road is signposted the A396 to Tiverton. Here you turn left through Dunster and onto Timberscombe (about 2 miles). At Timberscombe turn left off the new bypass into the village, and you will see “The Lion” ahead of you, down the left side of the “The Lion” there is a small road, Great House street, and the “Great House” (TA24 7TQ if using a sat nav) is about 150 yards along on the left. If you wish to travel by rail, the nearest main line station is Taunton (direct line from Paddington), where there is bus connection to Minehead, from where a taxi can be pick...
