Burnvale , 17 North Shawbost , Isle of Lewis, is a well equipped comfortable holiday home which sleeps 4 ,where you will find everything you need to have a relaxing or active holiday on the Isle of Lewis. Burnvale has a lovely outlook to the hills at the front and the Atlantic Ocean, over croft land at the back. The accommodation is all on the ground floor, consisting of , 1 double bedded room, 1 twin bedded room , a bathroom with shower cubicle and roll top bath, a dining room, a lounge with large flat screen t.v. ,DVD player an I station and wifi. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped with dining table,double oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer , microwave and gas hob. The Utility room has a washing machine and a separate toilet. Excellent holiday cottage.

Although the location is about 18 miles from Stonaway don't let this put you off.Burnvale offers all the amenities you will need and more. We were only there in the evening's most of our time was exploring the islands, we still didn't see band do...More

Large, comfortable cottage on the NW coast of Lewis

Comfortable house.

About the neighbourhood
Welcome to Burnvale, 17 North Shawbost, where you will find everything you need to have a relaxing or active holiday on the Isle of Lewis. The village of Shawbost is a small crofting, weaving community on the west coast of Lewis, it's lovely safe sandy horseshoe beach is a 15minute walk from the house. The post office is next door, the village store is a few minutes drive away. For lovely take away food call at 40 North Bragar in the next village, it is all locally sourced produce, just delicious, fine dining. A very interesting local museum is within the newly refurbished old school community hall. The new school has a swimming pool which is open to the public. Just out of the village going south, is the Norse Mill, about 1.5 mile walk
Getting around
Take a walk out to the hill, Ben Bragar, climb to the top and be rewarded with views of the island and on a clear day you can see the flannan isles, we have seen golden eagles and mountain hare, out on the moor. Walk into the shore and enjoy the soft sandy beach , safe for swimming, see the oystercatchers, pied wagtails, curlews, seals and maybe an otter. Back at the croft you will hear the cuckoo in the spring, the corncrake in the summer, and in between the displaying lapwings, the flutter of the snipe wings and the song of the skylark. The West Side Coastal walk passes Shawbost. It stretches from Barvas and ends at the black house village at Garinin, taking in spectacular coastal views and passes though beautiful sandy beaches at Dalbeg
