Podere Agrituristico Luchiano is set in the heart of a beautiful area of Southern Umbria, unknown to most tourists, which extends between the rivers Tiber and Nera. Crossed by old Roman roads, this fascinating and authentic place, named Comprensorio Amerino, is very rich in nature, culture and traditions. First of all Amelia, the most ancient mediaeval town of the Umbrian peoples, is worth visiting for its limestone polygonal walls (3rd cent. BC) as well as for its different churches, the marvellous historic palaces and the Roman Cistern. The estate is located between Amelia (5 km) and Lugnano in Teverina (5 km) and lies on a small hill at 450 m above sea level and offers a stunning panoramic view over the hills and the valleys all around. Surrounded by the large garden and the olive grove of around 2,000 trees, the typical Umbrian estate of the 17th century still preserves its unique original threshing floor built with hand-made bricks, used by local farmers for threshing grain by hand until some decades ago. Spending a holiday at Luchiano means breathing the air of tranquillity and serenity of times past, when time went by slowly and the contact with nature and its fruits was of primary importance for life. The atmosphere here is hospitable and friendly, ideal for relaxing and tasting the farm’s typical local products, such as extra virgin olive oil, olives in brine, honey, as well as season fruits and vegetables. The family, owners of the agriturismo, speak Italian, English and German and personally welcome you to make you feel at home! Luchiano is also a perfect base for walking and cycling. If you like excursions, an Environmental Excursion-Guide will accompany you on tours of different length and difficulty, including, for example, Mounts Sibillini. Lovers of beauty and wellness, instead, can choose among the different treatment packages offered on spot in collaboration with the Professional Wellness Centre of Amelia. The estate is ideally situated for touring the area being close to a wealth of charming towns such as Todi, Orvieto, Narni, Spoleto, the Marmore Waterfalls and Bomarzo (Park of Monsters), and within easy reach, by road (one hour) or rail (1 and a half hour), of Rome, Perugia and Assisi, the town of St. Francis. Structure and facilities The Podere Agrituristico Luchiano is a typical Umbrian farmhouse (600 sq.m), dating back to the 17th century, recently restored and converted into a comfortable country house, smartly decorated with period furniture (Naples, 19th century and Art Nouveau styles). The structure still shows the characteristic outer walls built with exposed natural stone and the central steps to the loggetta, a small open balcony, which leads to the apartment named Foresteria (4+1 people) Particular attention has been paid to the interior restoration, preserving the typical ceilings built with wooden beams and tiles, as well as vaults and recesses. There are also other two apartments on the ground floor available for rent, Elio (2+1 people) and Luna (4+1 people). On the outside, in the private garden, you find tables and chairs for your meals. Also available for you outdoors: • Wood oven • Barbecue area with tables and chairs • Barbecue place sheltered from rain • Mountain bikes • Covered car parking Free Wi-Fi. Swimming pool (open approx. from the 15th of June till the 15th of September) The private swimming pool (6x12 m) is situated in a quiet position and offers a beautiful panoramic view of the nearby hills and valleys, ideal for sun-bathing and relaxing. There are sun-beds, deck-chairs, umbrellas, tables and chairs. The pool is compliant with the regional safety laws. Sala, living and dining room Originally Podere Luchiano was a monastery, whose church was later used as a stable by the local farmers. Restored around ten years ago, the old stable has been converted into a spacious living room of 140 sq.m, which still shows the four 17th cent. arches, originating in the common central column. The room has a nice fireplace, kitchen and bathroom as well as tables and chairs, sofas, colour TV, DVD reader, stereo, radio, table games, books and is the available for guests as a common living room. It is also used for lectures and seminars as well as for dinners, weddings and private parties. ACCOMMODATION: the three apartments have washing machine, dish-washer, flat screen TV, kitchen with gas rings, oven, refrigerator and freezer. Free WI-FI. About the neighbourhood
Amelia is the most ancient town of Umbrians. It is famous for the polygonal walls, the Romans water cistern and the numerous churches and historical palaces. The estate is located just 5kms from Amelia and lays on the top of the small hill sorrounded by trees. The wind and the shadow of the trees make the holiday very pleasant. All around there are different paths for walking or cycling. The Southern part of Umbria is less known but still very authentic and genuine. Orvieto, Todi, Narni, Spoleto, Rome and Perugia are very close to us.In one and a half hour you can reach either the sea or the mountains. Lake of Vico and Bolsena are just one hour from here.
