Our sunny and spacious studio apartment sleeps 2 (+ 1 child on a sofa-bed), and is located within the prestigious Vitalhotel leisure complex in Gosau, the premier resort of the Dachstein-West ski area of the Salzkammergut lakes region of the Austrian Alps. In summer we are well placed to explore the lakes, Hallstatt and St Wolfgang, and the main attractions of this beautiful area. After busy, active or lazy days in the mountains it is a great place to return to, with free use of the indoor pool and sauna, with the Wellness Centre, gym, bar and restaurant facilities available too. Relax on our south facing balcony, with its spectacular views up the valley over grazing pastures to the massive Dachstein, and ski slopes - a wonderful place to dine as the sun goes down at the end of the day. Relax on our south facing balcony, with its spectacular views up the valley over grazing pastures to the massive Dachstein, and ski slopes - a wonderful place to dine as the sun goes down at the end of the day. Our small kitchen has all you need to prepare breakfast, picnics, snacks and dinner, though there are many lovely places, on the mountain, beside the lake and in the village to eat locally, as well as in the hotel restaurant where we and our guests can enjoy a three course buffet meal at our special Owners'' price. Our apartment has twin beds (close together) and a wardrobe at the rear, a large ‘L’-shaped sofa for extra comfort and a table at the front by our panoramic window and balcony. Our bathroom has a full size tub and overhead shower, WC and handbasin for all your needs! Gosau is a wonderful base for exploring the main tourist sights of the region, eg Hallstatt (15 mins), Salzburg (45 mins), Bad Ischll (spa town), St Wolfgang (30 mins) and its cog railway to the peak of the Schafburg, and salt mines, Ice Cave and 5 Fingers panoramic trail. At the end of the Gosau valley is the Gosausee lake with its circular trail, and cable car up to the Zweiselalm plateau where you can start off on long trails, or sit on an alm terrace and enjoy the lake and glacier view! Come winter to ski, or at other times to walk the 400+ Kms of marked trails, enjoy that top-of-the-world feeling that will make your holiday or short break so rewarding.More

About the neighbourhood
Alpine mountain valley location, with scattered housing amongst grazing pastures, beneath the massive Dachstein mountain and ski slopes of Dachstein-West. In the valley under the massive Dachstein is the Gosausee lake, with its circular trail, and cable car to the Zwieselalm plateau where there are gentle walking trails, and the ski area in winter. Enjoy the stunning view of the glacier from a restaurant terrace. Gosau is central for exploring the lakes region, with Gosausee, Grundlsee, Toplitzee, Altaussee, St Wolfgangsee and Hallstattersee close by. Try lake swimming, (ice diving in winter), white-water rafting, paragliding or rock-climbing and mountaineering, as well as mountain cycling and hiking. Learn about the local culture and see locals wearing traditional clothing, playing the...
Getting around
A car is essential in the summer months so guests can explore off the bus routes. Buses are available, punctual and travel between towns along the valleys. Hallstatt is difficult to park despite several car parks, so a ferry trip over from the other side is a lovely alternative option. In winter, the ski bus takes guests from the front door to the ski slopes along the main road, and is free.
