Les Champeaux, Orne, Basse-Normandie, Normandy
Les Sablons is a charming 'Colombage' cottage that is situated in the beautiful and tranquil countryside in the heart of rural Normandy. It is surrounded by the rolling green fields and valleys of the Pays D'Auge; there are contented cows grazing in the numerous orchards providing milk for the Camembert cheese made a few miles away in the village of the same name.
The delight and joy of Les Sablons come from its peace and serenity: as a guest commented 'You can hear the silence!'
The cottage is set in a lawned garden with views over a valley. At the rear of the cottage there is a large decked area for sitting, sunbathing, eating and watching the abundant wildlife; apart from the bird and plant life, deer and wild boar are visitors to the nearby fields. The cottage is equipped with everything you require for an enjoyabl...

We had a lovely week staying in Champosoult. The gite was very homely and very well fitted out. A very relaxing place to stay at, the dogs enjoyed the garden and we was very lucky with the weather. Would recommend it to friends and family.

About the neighbourhood
The area around Les Sablons is surrounded by those lush fields with contented cows providing milk for Camembert cheese that is made in the nearby village of the same name. The cottage itself sits on the hill that saw the end of the Battle of Normandy in August 1944 when the allied forces closed the Falaise Gap trapping the German army. There is a nearby museum which evokes the fascinating history of those last few days.
There is also the castle of William the Conqueror at Falaise that has been restored with the conceptive mixture of modern and ancient architecture.
The area produces the famous cheese not only of Camembert but also Livarot and Pont L'Eveque. Its rolling hills and green twisting valleys are scattered with magnificent half-timbered manor houses and as some became delapid...
