Taking inspiration from years spent living in India, South America and the Middle East, my 18th century lakeside retreat is a newly renovated oasis of calm on the oldest street in Lesa. Everything has just been installed and inside you'll find fresh, white, high-thread count Italian linens woven locally and a brand new designer Italian kitchen waiting for you. My place is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families. The space During your stay in my apartment you will share the street with a 17th century foley, the town hall and a romantic botega. The fresco of the virgin on the main facade is thought to be a later addition and dates from the early 19th century. It is believed to be the handy work of a local artist famed for his sacred art and other similar examples can be found in the churches of Lesa, Meina and Stresa. The 90 square meter space can accommodate up to 4 comfortably and one or two more small ones at a push. You'll find a UK double bed (140cm X 190cm) in a room by itself, a twin room with a UK queen (120cm X 190cm) and a single (90cm X 190cm) and a single futon-style sofa in the living room. Interaction with guests Both myself and my locally resident housekeeper will be on call. between us we speak English, Italian, French, Spanish and Arabic. We can also help in Russian and German if requested. The neighborhood There’s a balcony on the front for breakfast and another at the back for an early evening and sunset over the roofs. From both there are partial views of the lake which is a 50m stroll down the hill. There you'll find plenty of food options including the popular Il Rapanelo fish restaurant, a delightful local deli and much more besides, all with stunning views over the lake. Other attractions in the area include Armani, Lora Piano, Alessi and Belora factory shops. There are around 30 golf courses around the lake, many of them situated in breathtaking mountain locations with very reasonable green fees. Ziplines, summer toboggans, boats of every conceivable kind and world class summer festivals from classical music in quarries to jazz in palace gardens. In the winter, there's local skiing on the hill behind Lesa itself and the world class pistes of Switzerland begin within an hour’s drive. On the way back id recommend stopping off at the newly renovated thermal spas. Further afield you'll find Portofino, the via ferata of the Dolomites and even Monaco, Venice and the French Riviera all within a 3 1/2 hour drive or less. I truly believe this is the best corner of Europe, which is why, having traveled and filmed holiday locations across the globe, I finally bought my own piece of paradise here. After staying in my home I hope you will agree and fall in love with the area as much as I have. My housekeeper has lived her whole life in the area and is full of ideas for activities on the area. We love a challenge so please get in touch with requests! Getting around Lesa really is the perfect place to explore the huge range of options Lago Maggiore has to offer. Desirably placed between hip Arona with its multitude of fashion stores and refined Stresa with its excellent summer festival and trains to Milan central in under an hour, I'd recommend taking a hire car from Malpensa (reachable in around 45 mins). Parking is free, easily accessible and without restriction 50m from the apartment. If you prefer, it's equally possible to explore the area by bus with regular services operating around the lake from the stop just 100m from the front door of the apartment. Other things to note Extra comforts such as an iron and hair dryer are available on request. Wifi is available for guests booking longer stays by prior agreement. I am also happy to offer mid-rental cleaning and a fridge of food to be waiting for your arrival at cost price. My housekeeper and I will do our best to satisfy any special request you may have so please do not hesitate to ask.More

Interaction with guests
I live overseas but my local housekeeper, Fernanda is available 24/7 and between us we do or best to ensure that your stay is comfortable and fun! I am know the area wee since I go to visit as often as possible and Fernanda's local knowledge is priceless. Generally we use a lockbox to ensure you can arrive whatever time of the day or night you like but if you prefer to meet Fernanda in person this is possible too.

About the neighbourhood
Lesa is the perfect holiday base 12 months a year: there are great restaurants and beaches on the lake within walking distance in the summer and in the winter there's skiing 40 minutes from the front door which is always clear of snow since its just off the main road the series the lake.
Getting around
I always hire a car but, that said, my mum comes and relies on public transport which is also possible. There are more buses and boats services in the summer but even in the winter you can can get buses to and from the airport (Malpensa is best) and Milan centre. The next town (Stresa) has direct non-stop trains to Milan Central station that arrive in under an hour.
