Holiday Rental House
Strangford, positioned at the narrow opening to Strangford Lough, is one of Northern Irelands most picturesque villages. It is a historic village which is a designated conservation area offering an idyllic location for a relaxing stay. The Old Rectory is located in the heart of the village and occupies a delightful partly wooded site offering a high degree of privacy. It was constructed in the early 1800s and served as a rectory for the surrounding parishes for approximately 150 years. In recent years it has been extensively and sympathetically refurbished and the addition of a contemporary extension to the side has opened up that part of the house. The ample living space provided offers an excellent opportunity to relax and enjoy a break with family and friends. Another recent addition is the impressive boat house which is partly faced in stone. It is capable of housing a large yacht and rib and can be used to house equipment for a variety of activities including diving , angling, walking, sailing, mountain biking. There are further outbuildings and garaging around an attractive gated courtyard as well as beautiful gardens bound by a large stone wall which has been reconstructed in recent years. The property comprises a luxury master suite with ensuite and large dressing room. There are 4 further double bedrooms, 1 twin room and 1 single room. The Old Rectory is within strolling distance of shops, several quality restaurants and bars and of course the ferry to the neighbouring village of Portaferry. The ferry journey - which takes approximately 10 minutes - is a wonderful way to experience Strangford Lough and puts all the amenities of Portaferry and the Ards Peninsula within easy reach. Downpatrick is a 10 minute drive away and Belfast is 45 minutes by car. The Old Rectory is also ideally positioned close to several high quality golf courses. Ardglass links course is less than 10 miles from Strangford and Royal County Down - hosts of the Irish Open 2015 - is less than a 40 minute drive away. More
