Warning: avoid at all costs
Actually, we preferred to support a local hotel and not a resort, so we booked five nights in September 2023 at the "Tribe Inn" in Bayahibe. After only two nights, we pulled out and these are the reasons: on the first night, music was playing in the Roof Top Bar at a volume that did not even allow us to watch TV in our room. It was supposed to stop at 10pm. The music was only turned off when I went upstairs at 10.10pm and pointed out that it was now past 10pm. Incidentally, the extremely loud music was played for a single guest in the Roof Top Bar. It is also noisy during the day due to the construction site next to the hotel and its location right on a main entry road to Bayahibe.
In the bathroom, we found a hairdryer connected directly by cable in a socket, which was thus hanging half out of the wall, a few centimetres next to the sink - a dangerous construction! The bed box was bigger than the mattress and dirt collected there that had obviously not been removed for a long time. Directly in front of our door, a cat had left its poop. Despite our notice, the dirt was not removed immediately, but only on the following day.
The handle of the lower half of the sandwich toaster (partly self-service breakfast) was missing - the appliance should be disposed of immediately! Ants crawled over the plates. Overall, the breakfast was very reduced in supply. The room door had a large gap and rattled. Because of the large gap, the latch of the lock could only keep the door closed a bit by keeping the lock plate at a distance with paper. There was no secure closure. The internet connection fluctuated. It is also unfavourable that the hotel name was not displayed on the outside of the building, which makes it difficult to find the accommodation.
To paint a differentiated picture, we would also like to mention positively that the staff was attentive and endeavoured: laundry handed in for cleaning came back washed overnight, an excursion to Isla Catalina was organised for us and a taxi was called for our departure. However, when the taxi arrived, no one from the hotel was present to open the official access door and we had to leave the hotel through the side entrance (with luggage up several steps). The whole place seemed deserted.
We had asked the manager for a partial refund after bringing the shortcomings to the attention of the staff. This was refused. The highlight was then that he slandered us on booking.com (unsuccessfully) and claimed that we had caused damage. As frequent travellers, this has never happened to us before. In the meantime, we filed an official complaint with the police and booking.com and supported all our statements with photos. As a result, booking.com sent us a partial refund and will subsequently deal with the accommodation. It seems that they had changed their name in the past, so this might happen again. It is a pity about the friendly staff and the potential of the hotel, but for us there were too many negative points in total that made us leave - the poor customer management and the manager's unwillingness to compromise add to this. The only thing we can do is warn other travellers.

The best place to stay in Bayahibe. Clean rooms, great service, amazing staff, pool, jacuzzi, incredible terrace and only good vibes
