Situated in the middle of the most famous stretch of the Dordogne, with some of the best views in the valley, Number 2 la Malartrie is a brilliant place to base yourself for a holiday you will always remember.
Walk through a vine-covered pergola and up a few steps to the covered terrace, from here you can look across the river to the valley beyond, over the walnut groves to Domme... or along the river to La Roque Gageac perched on the edge of the cliffs.
From this terrace you can either continue up more steps at the side of the house to a spectacular roof terrace or go in the front door to the lounge on the ground floor. On the roof terrace, you can dine or just relax and enjoy the view, where you'll have uninterrupted views of the river, La Roque Gageac, the village of St Julien and the beautiful bastide town of Domme.

We are completely honest about parking in this ancient village of narrow streets. There is always parking available, about 50 metres away. These people were with us for 2 weeks and raised no concerns with us to allow us to help or rectify things.

La Roque Gageac is formally designated as 'one of the prettiest villages in France' by the French Government, and who are we to disagree.
Stuck to the cliffs overlooking the river Dordogne the houses are built, one above the other, at interesting, odd angles in the golden stone of the region with the stunning perigordian architecture.
The village has evolved, one house at a time, over a 1000 years to have a charm and personality of it's own.
The area around the village is steeped in history; since the Vikings raided, well before the 100 years war, through the middle ages and each era has left it's mark.
