The Writers' Cottage on Secret Beach, is a charming, private, self-contained Queen bedroomed cottage for two, adjacent to Yarrandabbi Dreaming B&B. It is set in beach front gardens with Moreton Bay views, surrounded by natural bush and myriad Australian birdlife. Great location to relax

Lovely, well appointed cottage with beautifull seaviews

The location was perfect with the beach at our doorstep.The cottage was really comfortable and homey and the bed was so comfy. Yvonne and Trevor the owners were very welcoming and hospitable. Will be back for a great relaxing break. V

About the neighbourhood

To eat out, the RSL/Bowls club - Club Macleay, and the Macleay Island Golf Club, both have Bistro restaurants and both offer courtesy transport to and from your cottage. Our local Fish and Chinese Eatery/Takeaway is a 5 minutes walk/ 300 metres away and supplies fresh fish, oysters and crabs from the bay. The Scorpion Cafe is around the corner. There are also Mamma's Pizzas & Spare Ribs etc., takeaway options, The Blue Parrott Cafe for great lunchtime meals and coffee is 3.5kms away near the Jetty. They close daily around 2.30pm. The local rustic Pub, located near the Jetty, caters to basic meals most evenings. We will give you walking or cycling maps of the Island tailored to your requirements. Paddle our canoe on our sheltered bay.

Getting around

There is no public transport on Macleay Island. A taxi operates during daylight hours and meets most passenger ferries. The convenience of having your own vehicle will be most appreciated and is strongly recommended! You also don't have to be concerned about finding a parking spot on the Mainland and leaving your car there whilst you are staying on the Island. Courtesy buses are operated by the islands Golf and Bowls clubs to convey customers to and from their Bistro Restaurants. We supply courtesy bicycles and helmets to our guests who often take them on the free interisland ferries to explore the 3 other islands in our Moreton Bay lslands group. People enjoy following walking or cycling trails suggested by Yvonne.
