My family had the most special holiday at the Bunk House. Roy made us feel very welcome. The house is stunning, well kept and clean. The views from the balcony are amazing and we couldn't have asked for more.
Roy, thank you so much.
We were only at The Bunkhouse for 2 nights, but it was perfect for what we were after, which was just to relax in a nice quiet location for a few days.
Roy was extremely helpful answering questions prior to booking as I have mobility...More
We've just a short break staying in Roy's 'spare house'. It's awesome! Roy built it himself so it has unique character and charm. The bedrooms in the loft space have amazing views out the roof windows and our 7year old loved looking at the moon...More
You don't have to check -in..just arrive when you like and make yourselves at home. There are likely to be myself and volunteers from overseas working the farm, who will always welcome you and are ready with local information if you wish. You will see Highland cattle in the fields around the farm, and you may well encounter a bouncy Hungarian Vizla called Nog. The farm and its surroundings are yours to ramble around, but you will be free to use the time and location exactly as you wish. Enjoy :-)
We are at the western end of the beautiful Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands, between Newtonmore and Lagganbridge. There there is a mass of recreational activities here, mostly but not all, outdoors. It really is no problem keeping the kids amused! For adults there is wonderful hill and dog walking on the doorstep, and all facilities available for evenings and daytime. The largest local visitor centre is at Aviemore where there is a funicular railway taking you high up the Cairngorms ..and a steam railway too!
How to get there
We are on the main route between Edinburgh/Glasgow and Inverness (about 3 hours north). Find your way to Newtonmore, and at this point turn off satnav..it will not identify the farm correctly. Take the A86 westwards from the village (direction Fort William). You cross the bridge over the Calder at the edge of town, check your mileometer..we are precisely 31/4 miles from there - on the left (south) side of the road with signs of Highland cows on the gate.
