It was a very relaxing week at Wark Farm. The flat is light and spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. It was an ideal base to visit the Cairngorms, local castles, and Aberdeen.

About the neighbourhood
The Hayloft sits at 1,000ft (around 300m) in upland Aberdeenshire in the middle of an organic farm. The surrounding countryside rises from mixed farmland and woodland up to the heather hills, all lying between the valleys of the rivers Dee and Don. It is a quiet rural area giving easy access to many opportunities for enjoyment of the beautiful countryside. Within easy reach are nature reserves, walks ranging from waymarked forest ways to more challenging wild country, some of the best fishing in Scotland, a ski resort (The Lecht) and, after all that, a range of good places to eat good quality food from the area and relax. The farm itself offers easy walks and the owner is happy to share information about the farm and the animals as well as the conservation work that they undertake to encou... more

The house is not located on any public transport routes so visitors will need a car to reach the property. Satnav systems using the postcode, often miss the property by a short distance. Once in the area of Cushnie, coming from the south (turning off the B9119), the farm can be found by looking for a signpost for Wark Farm pointing to a right hand turning onto a farm road. Follow the road for about 1/3 mile, the Hayloft is located at the end of the road. Approaching from the west (from the A980) proceed east from the cross roads in the village of Muir of Fowlis until reaching a T junction apposite a garage (about 4 miles). Turn left and then after 200m take a left turn where the Wark Farm sign indicates. Proceed as above.
