There is a village pub close by and a small convenience store which is open 7 days a week from 7am - 7pm. The mobile phone signal is patchy in Penmachno. The cottage is in a quiet location and yet within easy reach of many attractions and activities in the area. Take a moment to look at our photos which show the cottage and many of the sights and attractions of North Wales. Explore spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches, castles, gardens, National Trust properties, steam railways; including the Llangollen, Ffestiniog and Highland railways, mountain biking, walking and climbing, horse riding, Europe's longest zip-wire, caving, kayaking and numerous fabulous restaurants! Portmeirion, Bodnant, Harlech, Llandudno and Conwy are all under an hour away. The area is rich in wildlife; buzzards, ravens and red kites are frequently seen over the village. RSPB Conwy and the Glaslyn Osprey Project are both around 30 minutes away and Gigrin Red Kite centre is 2 hours to the South, in Mid Wales. Well worth a visit and a drive through beautiful scenery to reach it. Sea birds can be viewed at South Stack on Anglesey and dolphins are spotted from time to time off the North Wales Coast. The stunning lakes and mountains of Snowdonia itself are close by. Take a train to the peak of Snowdon from Llanberis [booking advised] Explore ancient slate caverns in Penmachno or Blaenau Ffestiniog. Discover local artists and traditional crafts. Attend food fairs and music festivals. Hear Welsh Male Voice Choirs singing in local pubs and churches. Bikes can be hired in Betws y Coed.
