La Bergerie is situated in a small hamlet amongst vineyards on the slopes of the Caroux mountains in the Haut Languedoc Regional Park, with stunning views across the Jaur valley from secluded covered and open terraces. Walks through magnificent scenery, with a 'grande randonée' passing above, and spectacular gorges with cascades and rock pools for swimming. Canoeing, fishing, rock-climbing, riding, rivers and lakes all nearby. Mediterranean beaches within 1 hour.

La Bergerie at Les Horts was built in the 17th century as a stone shepherd's cottage in the beautiful valley of the Juar river, now part of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Park. A set of stone steps leads off a restricted-access track through the village of Les Horts, to the secluded landscaped garden which surrounds the property. La Bergerie has been imaginatively conve...

Beautiful views over the Languedoc countryside in a compact gite sited on a hillside in an attractive hamlet. Excellent facilities only a few minutes away in each direction at Mons and Olargues - shops, restaurants, and sights of very varied kinds. Gorges D'Heric never fails...More

About the neighbourhood
Les Horts is a small 16th century hamlet of about fifteen families, situated on the flanks of the Espinouse mountain ridge, 3 kms from the historic medieval town of Olargues to the west, and Mons La Trivalle to the east. From the main D908 road running along the valley of the Orb and Juar rivers, a small route turns off, under the old railway line (which has now been converted into a walking and cycling path) and winds up through the vineyards to the village square.

Olargues is one of the 'Plus Beau Village de la France' (most beautiful villages in France), with a medieval tower above the small town and a 12C stone bridge.

How to get there
Airport: Beziers: 50.0 km
Railway: Bedarieux: 20.0 km
There are various ways to drive or fly. The most direct route to drive down is to take the A71 autoroute from Orlèans to Clermont-Ferrand, and continue south on the A75 as far as Lodève (all autoroute and now passing over the fabulous new bridge at Millau - the highest in the world). At Lodève cut across to Bèdarieux on the D35, and take the D908 towards St. Pons. Soon after Mons La Trivalle, watch out for a small road under the old railway line to Les Horts, about 3 km before Olargues.

By Air: Closest airport is Beziers-Vias (45 mins) for flights from Paris Orly, and now from Luton and Bristol with RyanAir . From Beziers take the D909 to Bedarieux - Herepian. For international flights Montpellier airport is about 1.5 hrs drive - either autoroute to Beziers, or across country via Clermon...
