Recently built, spacious studio cabin at Butterfly Dance Development, twelve miles west of San Ramon towards Puntarenas, off the Pan American Highway. View of the Gulf and Puntarenas from adjoining road. Furnished, sleeps 2, twin beds. Kitchen with counter and stools; bath.

Ideal Central Valley location to visit most of Costa Rica: 25-30 minutes to San Ramon and Puntarenas, 1 hour to Atenas, Jaco, 1 hour 15 minutes to San Jose, La Fortuna, 2 hours plus to Manuel Antonio National Park and most Pacific and Caribbean beaches. There are direct bus connections from San Ramon to La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano) and San Jose and many buses stop on the highway outside San Ramon going to Nicoya, Liberia, Guanacaste, and Nicaragua.

The cabin is isolated in terms of physical location and robust road. It is quiet. More importantly, it is electronically isolated, no TV, no cellphone reception on Movistar and very poor Wi-Fi with a Movistar dongle. You need to be at peace with the company...More

This cabin is a very simple small structure in the country so any expectations should be taken into consideration. It is not meant to be a hotel with services. The listing states clearly that an off-road vehicle is advised. We don't make any claims to...More

About the neighbourhood
This is a country setting between San Ramon and Esparza. Rio Jesus (Jesus River) is on the other side of the highway. You can hike to it off the highway if you see a dirt road further down the highway on the right. There are two roads leading into the cabin, both have gates after the electronic gate. One has a manual lock, the other opens with a push. San Ramon is a large town with many grocery stores, restaurants, the Catholic Church of St. Raymond Nonnato. Esparza is a smaller town about 15 km west before Puntarenas. There is a nice grocery store there, Compre Bien.. Puntarenas has ferries that cross the Gulf on which you can take cars and has the restaurant Casa Almendro. Palmares is a town further east before San Ramon It has an Italian Restaurant in Zaragoza called La Lira.

How to get there
Airport: Juan Santamaria Airport: 50.0 km
Ferry: Puntarenas: 25.0 km
From the airport take Hwy1 to San Ramon. Exit the airport turn right and follow signs to San Ramon, not Alajuala. Pass Grecia, Naranjo, Palmares and San Ramon. Go past San Ramon 12 miles. After a series of curves you will see a radio tower and a small grey shack up high. The entrance is on the left after the next curve. Be careful turning left as cars pass you also on the left. If cars are behind you it is better to go a hundred yards, get off the road on the right, and get back on the highway in the opposite direction. The two green pillars will be up ahead on the right. Go up the ramp about 300 meters to the electronic gate where the owner will be waiting. By bus go to Alajuela and take the Puntarenas bus. Get off at 'Tres Vias'.
