We are so happy we booked!!
We are here at Ualani Cottage as I write this. It is our last night. I had to write this now so I don't get busy later and neglect to.
This property has been absolutely perfect in every way for us. The owners are very quick to respond to any queries but they leave you be. The cottage has everything we could have needed. Any time I realized I had forgotten to pack something I would look and it would be here. We got staple groceries on day 2 - milk, bread, sandwich fixings, cheese, crackers etc. But there were all sorts of condiments and spices and even some snacks here. John was kind enough to share some coffee since we would be leaving quite early our first morning and wouldn't have been to the grocery store yet. We so appreciated that. I have found many useful toiletries as well!
Under the cottage is a large storage area that has a washer/dryer, beach supplies, coolers, etc. So incredibly helpful. We were able to do our laundry before moving to South Maui tomorrow.
Upcountry Maui is the best. I really recommend spending a major chunk of your trip here. It's quaint and scenic and much closer to Hana and Haleakala than West or South Maui. Plus you can stay here at John & Maggie's place. It's a total win.
Today has been a washout (it's the rainy season!) but we have books, games, Netflix, a beautiful covered lanai, you name it. It was the perfect "relax and regroup" day for us. And there are two geckos that hang out on the lanai and we've adopted them as our Maui pets. They're so cute and chill.
Do not hesitate to book this property. You will not regret it.

Hidden Gem in Haiku, Maui.
Aloha! Nestled in the jungle area of Maui, this lovely cottage has everything a traveller would need while staying on Maui island. Quiet, tranquil and close to many adventures, the location is perfect if you are looking for rest or time away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A great location if you have small children as well. The property is large filled with beautiful fruit trees and with plenty of room to roam. The hot tub is an added bonus!
The cottage is close to Twin falls, which is spectacular anytime of the year. Drive into the tropical jungle and you will find the road that leads to the volcano! The cottage is also at the start of the famous “Road to Hana”. And not even 10 minutes away from the popular lookout point where you can watch the surfers riding waves! And if you are lucky enough,catch the sea turtles lounging in the beach. 🐢
Add a few more minutes to your drive and you are close to the cute surf town of Pa’ia and Baldwin beach.
The cottage is owned and run by a wonderful couple Maggie and John. They are readily available to help and to answer any questions. You might be lucky enough to see their adorable pets as well.
They have taken the time and care to see that the cottage is comfortable for a traveller’s visit. The cottage is styled beautifully using authentic local Maui decor. They have equipped it with the most comfortable mattresses and pillows. TV, Netflix, coffee maker, pots, etc are readily available for everyday living inside the cottage.
They also have beach chairs, some beach gear and other accessories that you might need while exploring the island.
I have had the privilege of staying at this lovely cottage a few times. Both with guests and solo. I have always had positive experiences while staying here and highly recommended it. It is a more authentic way to visit Maui period.
My next trip with my sister is already booked. That should speak for itself!

Charming guest cottage
We had a perfect stay – we were able to work remotely in comfort with the benefit of being less than a mile from relatives we visited. The cottage was spacious, comfortable and immaculate. Maggie and John were great hosts. We'll definitely book with them again if dates are available the next time we return to Maui.

Haiku delight
I have lived on Maui since 7 years and I got the pleasure of having a staycation several times in this beautiful place which feels like a sanctuary. I adore the peace and quiet, what this property has to offer with a beautiful view of the ocean, the sky at night for stargazing and a fragrance of the night blooming Jasmine is truly an incredible experience . John and Maggie are the kindest and most welcoming hosts, making sure that everything is there for your magical vacation on Maui. I highly recommend this place to stay if you like to be away from the busy hotel areas and beaches, but yet you have a short drive to experience the east side of the island which is the favorite site for surfers, wind kiters.
Also is about half an hour drive to Kihei where you find several beautiful beaches and nightlife with many great restaurants.

Amazing Maui getaway with ocean views
The location is incredible, tranquil with ocean views and the almost guaranteed rainbow a day. It is near the most famous North Maui attractions, like Hookipa Beach, Jawz, Twin Falls, to name a few. It is also close to the towns of Haiku, Paia, and Makawao where you can visit great stores and restaurants. The cottage is spacious, beautifully decorated and spotless. The property offers a lot of privacy, places to grill and a wonderful hot tub from which you can observe the starry sky at night. John and Maggie are amazing hosts and always there when you need them. We will most definitely visit again!

We loved our stay!
John and Maggie go above and beyond to create a welcoming and relaxing stay. I’ve stayed in quite a few AirBnb’s across the world and this was my favorite so far. We stayed in both of their cottages during our stay and it was lovely in all ways. We appreciated how close it is to Paia, Makawao, the road to Hana and the Haleakalā crater. Plus, the jacuzzi with ocean views is a pretty stellar way to end a day of adventures! We now live on Maui and recommend all of our visitors stay with Maggie and John!

Beautiful and perfect
This is a beautiful property! Our stay was comfortable and perfect. We were a short distance from the beach and the bamboo forest. Our cottage was very clean. The hosts John and Maggie were welcoming and gracious. I would highly recommend staying here!

Extreme Privancy and Tranquility
This cottage was extremely cozy and minutes away from Twin Falls. We loved hiking the bamboo forest and taking morning walks at Baldwin Beach. Loved coming home to a well equipped cottage and sitting in a nice hot tub. The owners were extremely helpful giving us ideas of places to eat, visit, and site see. We will definitely be back to this little gem.

Peaceful retreat.
I really enjoyed my stay at John and Maggie’s property. It is extremely peaceful. Right off the Road to Hana. Also close to epic beaches Baldwin Beach Park and Ho’okipa Beach in Paia. Cozy cottage with birds chirping, bamboo in the breeze, and tasty fruit. Enjoyed having the hot tub too. Will visit again!
