Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Perfect Rural Hideaway and only 15 mins by sealed roads into Town
Can only concur with all the positive comments already expressed. We stayed for just 2 nights but loved it immensely for all the reasons previous guests have done. We got home and re-booked for a longer stay later in the year. A lot of thought has gone into the set-up and it works well and is superby comfortable. The space has been used well and very easy to enjoy both inside and out. The Woodshed Falls and Mt Pilot summit nearby are well worth seeing, and Beechworth itself is a charming town with good food, wine and coffee. Lots of local history if you haven't visited before, plus nice driving roads through lovely sub-alpine scenery pretty much everywhere you look.

Instant unwind.
A jewel of a retreat and instant unwind from big city hubbub. Very well equipped. Quiet and scenic. Close to Beechworth to pop in for dinner or a few supplies.

Perfect
Wow - just wow ! We stayed here for a few days in January - as soon as we pulled up the sense of relaxation kicked in ! Lovely shack with all you need for a restful stay . The town was just a short drive away with all amenities - tho once the shopping has been done you can easily shut off from the world . The hosts were brilliant - we had a welcome note and when a storm hit they left us lamps and water . Next time we’re in Australia We shall definitely go back

A Peaceful Rural Escape
We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Candlebark Retreat near Beechworth. The cabin was very comfortable, facilities were first class and the walks around the vineyard and paddocks were alive with bird life and watchful kangaroos. Nearby Beechworth was full of historic interest and road trips across to Yackandandah, up to Tallangatta and across to Bright made Candlebark Retreat an ideal base.
Our lovely host Fleur was always available should we have needed help, but never intrusive, our only visitor being her wonderful old dog, Salty.
We would unhesitatingly recommend Candlebark Retreat for those who would appreciate a restful stay in great surroundings.

Country comfort
One of the nicer stays I have had. As well as a very comfortable stay with everything you could want, the farm surrounds are beautiful. We had fun playing with the dogs and patting the horses. Enjoyed a few glasses of wine, walking in the vines and watching the sun go down behind the beautiful surrounds of Beechworth, before being replaced with starry skies. I hadn’t been to Beechworth since I was a kid and was impressed with how much there was to do and the great food and drink scene. Also very nearby Woolshed Falls is one of the coolest waterfalls I have ever been to. I enjoyed a bit of a dip in some of the rock pools and a good rock scramble. Fleur was very nice and helpful with everything we needed. Thank you, I am sure we will be back.

Relaxing weekend
What a gorgeous cottage, it has everything you need, love the plunger coffee. Fleur is a great host, ensuring that we were having a nice stay without being intrusive. Beautiful setting with a lovely outdoor fire that was great to sit around and enjoy the winter sun. And just a couple kms from Beechworth. Will definitely be returning

Everything you could want except excess
After a 2 night stay here in October we returned home refreshed, renewed and chomping at the bit to get back ......... so here we are about to head up the Hume again to get back to the birds, the morning mist and that amazing wall of books.
Perfectly positioned 5 minutes from what you need and years away from the hustle and bustle - your hostess is just lovely, greeting you when you arrive and then politely slipping away to leave you in peace to enjoy all that this wonderful stay has to offer.
Yes, the facilities are paired back but that is the absolute charm of this place - a fully functioning kitchenette a place to get clean and a super comfy bed all compliment the stunning surrounds ............ Oh, and a brilliant BBQ set up tops it all off.
Jenny and I kept cracking the line from "The Castle" ............ "How's the Serenity ............ So much Serenity"

Peaceful & Relaxing Getaway
So close to town, and yet you could be in the middle of nowhere. This charming cottage is cosy and comfortable and has everything you need, including a kitchenette. The bathroom is small but functional. There is a wall of books to choose from if you are a reader, and a TV and wi-fi. The surroundings are beautiful, quiet in a country way and it's so relaxing. We watched the sunrise over the hills and vineyard, absolutely beautiful. The hosts are just lovely, and not far away if you need anything. We would have loved to stay longer.

Excellent stay at Candlebark
Stayed last weekend, booked some months ago as a mini holiday. Easy to book, Fleur is quick to respond and very helpful. Her directions were easy to follow even in the dark!! The cabin is peaceful, surrounded by birdlife, horses and beautiful scenic views. Inside it is comfortable, warm and cosy. It has everything you'll need for a great weekend away. Easy drive into Beechworth, and pleasant hub for daytrips to neighbouring areas. We had a lovely weekend.
