The cottage is perfect for full week holidays or quiet weekends / short breaks for either lone travellers or couples who prefer quite breaks away from it all but who wish to have easy access to the shops & supermarkets within Stranraer which is easily accessible by car. This little known & less populated area of the South Rhins known as 'undiscovered Scotland' offers something for all ages, from beautiful sandy beaches to more rugged coastlines, forest walks & an excellent selection of gardens including the Botanic Garden at Port Logan. There are a number of golf courses within a short drive & plenty of sea & freshwater fishing & a good selection of pubs & restaurants within the surrounding area. Access to the first / last section of the Southern Upland Way which begins / ends in the harbour village of Portpatrick is just a short walk from the cottage & the most Southerly point of Scotland known as the 'Mull of Galloway' is just a 22 mile drive along the coast road which provides stunning views across Luce Bay to the Lake District mountains and beyond. Day trips to Belfast or Larne are available from the ferry Ports at Cairnryan which are just a 20 minute drive away. Turnberry Golf Course is close enough to spend a day enjoying a few rounds of golf and the towns of Girvan, Ayr & Glasgow, are ideal for those who like to shop. More

Getting around
As we are not on a bus route a car is essential to gain easy access to the surrounding villages, beaches & other places of interest. Alternatively there are local taxi firms in Stranraer or - for those who prefer to walk - the centre of town can be reached on foot in 20 - 30 minutes.
