Stayed here for a long weekend, stunning views, amazing visit to Ostel Bay (5min) drive away, delicious dinner at The Kames Hotel! Only thing missing was a log burner but overall, was a fabulous stay! Will definitely return!

About the neighbourhood
The pretty loch-side village of Tighnabruaich and neighbouring Kames are great places to get away from it all. Sailors, anglers, walkers, cyclists and artists all come here for the stunning scenery and tranquillity. It has a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. If you can, catch a game of shinty or take a trip down the loch on board the Waverley, the world’s last ocean-going paddle steamer. There’s also a hilly nine-hole golf course – the views down the Kyles of Bute from here are breathtaking, but you’ll need to watch out for wandering sheep. Just four miles down the road (and a beautiful drive it is too), you’ll find Portavadie Marina.
How to get there
By ferry: There are two regular car ferry services across the Clyde from Gourock ( half an hour on the M8 from Glasgow) to Dunoon. The Calmac ferry links with trains from Glasgow, whilst for cars, Western Ferries is normally more convenient operating, at peak times, 4 times an hour. Glendaruel is approximately 18 miles from Dunoon, taking the B836 through Glen Lean and then the A8003 towards Tignabruaich. By road: Cross the Clyde on the Erskine Bridge (3 miles from Glasgow Airport on the M8) and take the A82 alongside Loch Lomond to Tarbet, then over the ’Rest and Be Thankful’ (the A83) ) before turning left onto the A815, sign-posted Dunoon. At the village of Strachur turn right onto the A886 and after 15 miles, just after the Clachan of Glendaruel, turn right again onto the A8003 towards Tighnabruaich
