Taign nan Craobh is a traditional croft house in a rural village on the west coast of Lewis providing an ideal base from which to explore the island. Located away from the main road in a quiet secluded setting the downstairs accommodation offers an open plan living space with a sun room providing views of the local crofts and the Atlantic ocean. The open fire is a treat on rainy days and evenings in. There is a supply of locally cut peat to burn which provides a unique aroma to accompany a dram or glass of red wine. The kitchen is of a traditional country style with a Rayburn stove. The stove is great to use but different to a conventional oven. There is also a gas hob if you don't feel up to the challenge. Cosy cottage

Comfortable and spacious cottage, ideal for a winter break! Always warm, and a great sun lounge, to watch the weather go by! Equally handy for Stornaway, and the stones at Callanish.

About the neighbourhood
Barvas is approximately 4 miles away where you will find a small shop and filling station. The nearby village of Borve also has a small shop, filling station, community centre (Clan McQuarrie Hall) and a hotel ( Borve House Hotel). For walkers there is access to the moors from the cottage with local standing stones and remains of traditional black-houses. A supply of local maps, information on walking and places of interest is available in the cottage.
Getting around
To make the most of your visit to the island a car is recommended. The main town of Stornoway is a 25 minute drive away and the cottage is an ideally located base from which to explore the island.
