About the neighbourhood
The village of Tolsta Chaolais is on the West side of the Isle of Lewis by the sea loch, Loch Roag, and across from the island of Bernera. We are close to the Calanais Stones and the Broch at Dun Carloway and not far from the Blackhouse village at Garenin. The ferry port and airport of Stornoway is half an hour's drive. Our visitors are often interested in the wildlife and coastal scenery of this beautiful place and many come to explore the ancient monuments and buildings here.
