Cottage
Our second cottage in Lossiemouth is located next door to our popular Seatown Cottage, in the middle of a row of 4. It is a traditional fisherman's cottage, built around 1850, and originally a thatched bungalow. Downstairs there is a large double bedroom with king size bed, a newly fitted bathroom (with shower over the bath) and a lounge. This has a woodburning stove to keep the cottage warm on those long winter evenings, and opens out into the newly installed galley kitchen. Upstairs there are 2 attic rooms. Because of their low ceilings, we have kitted these out as a children's twin room and a 'den' - complete with bean bags, a toy chest and a second TV and DVD player. Outside there is a garden shed, and a fairly sheltered and secluded garden, although it is not enclosed. Well behaved dogs are welcome, but we do ask that they are not allowed on the furniture or in the bedroom. It provides comfortable and cosy accommodation in a stunning location, just opposite the bridge to the fabulous East Beach and an easy walk to the woods along the river's edge. PS We are proud that we were awarded one of TripAdvisor's coveted Certificate of Excellence in 2014, one of the only years these were allocated for holiday rentals.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Bliss!!!
We are just back from our 2nd stay at 6 Seatown and again it was fabulous! Myself, hubby and 3 dozy dogs had a great time. The cottage was perfect with the all important log burner to fall asleep in front of after a busy day walking the golden East Beach, the dogs had a ball, living there best life! Everything you need is catered for and the master kingsize bed is super comfy. Wendy and Colin's welcome pack is truly generous.... and the bottle of fizz went down a treat helping us celebrate our wedding anniversary ❤️..There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance and we had a beautiful meal at Catch 79 and would highly recommend it! We had such a great relaxing stay and can't wait to come back again! Thanks Paula & Derek x

Highly recommended
Right beside the East Beach, this comfortable, well-equiped cottage has everything need for a peaceful stay in a wonderful location. This was my second stay here, and Wendy, the owner, always makes the visit so personal and easy.

Lovely cosy cottage by the sea.
This is a lovely cottage, with a cosy living room and an excellent log burning stove. The kitchen has everything you need, the bedroom is nicely appointed and very comfortable. The bathroom has an excellent shower is very modern, the upstairs rooms are perfect for children to sleep and play. There is a small garden across from the front door and the cottage is situated just off of the town centre by the old bridge over to the beach. I would highly recommend this cottage for a stay in Morayshire.

Family friendly from home in fantastic surroundings
What a lovely cottage 6 Seatown is. Wendy and Colin have thought of everything and more than might be needed for a trouble free holiday, even down to buckets, spades and a scooter for the kids. Inside the cottage is very comfortably furnished and the upstairs children’s room is decorated in a seaside theme - a nice touch. There is always a welcome pack awaiting you, a boon for those arriving late and the laundry facilities mean that there is no need to take home your dirties. Outside the pretty garden is well kept with a table and seating where you can read a book or enjoy a drink at sunset. I can’t count how many times we with our Springer Spaniel have stayed now and have already booked for 2022. Lossiemouth has so much to offer with the miles of beaches, forest walks and a good selection of eating places including my favourite ice cream and chip shops. There is much to enjoy and explore in Moray to keep me coming back. Happy Holidays!

Wonderful place to stay!
I was so happy to be able to book this cottage for a week as soon as travel restrictions were eased. It was the first time I had left home for more than a year and i was not disappointed. The cottage is beautifully appointed and has everything you could wish for including an unexpected welcome pack in the fridge. It was easy to walk the dog by just crossing the road and then following the river to the dunes and woods. We did once wade through the river at low tide to explore the marvelous beach, but one has to time it right not to be stranded. Lossie is a great base for exploring the Moray Coast and my dog enjoyed visiting a different stretch of coast every day.

Hi Marlene, Thank you so much for such a great review. Hopefully the new bridge will be completed next spring, making the East Beach easily accessible again - just in case you head up this way again! Regards Wendy

Fantastic
Just had a fantastic two weeks in Wendy and Colin’s cottage in Lossiemouth. First time in this cottage, we usually stay in Seatown Cottage, both are first rate. We had such a lovely and relaxing time we have booked for three weeks in July 2021. As others have said, everything is thought out and nothing is missing. The welcome goodies are delicious as well. It was lovely to meet Wendy, Colin and of course Linda this holiday. They all do such a fabulous job in the cottages. Even with all the COVID restrictions we managed to eat out and most importantly feel safe, we had self isolated for months at home and feeling safe was top of our priorities and Lossiemouth did us proud. Thank you all and see you next summer, perhaps Jamie (our border collie) will remember he is not on holiday in Seatown Cottage next year.

Beautiful stay
What an amazing place Lossiemouth is ! We arrived late and the fridge was stocked with a bottle of cava and food for a fry , tea , coffee , milk , everything you need in a kitchen also towels , toilet roll , hand soap . The area is beautiful and although the bridge is out of order we managed to get across to the beach ( time the tides ) and it was worth it ! We had a surfing lesson with Donald who has New Wave Surf School -0781823881 which is around the corner from the cottage in the car park . Hopeman beach is a 10 min drive and great for a day at the beach and a swim , if your lucky like us you might see dolphins too .. A wonderful stay with an 11 & 14 year old who loved it too . The cottage is in a great location with all you need . Will be back next summer !!

Perfect
Many previous reviews will comment on the East beach and proximity etc, however the bridge is closed due to safety reasons so the beach is technically not as accessible. Don't let this put you off renting this property there is much, much more to do and see in the area. The cottage is perfect and well maintained with everything you will need. Wendy is a very attentive host and ensures that everything is just right. I will be using this property again in the future when i go to visit family and friends.

Fabulous !!!!!!!!!!!
We recently stayed at 6 Seatown and can honestly say that Wendy & Colin have thought of absolutely everything you might dream of needing on a break away! The cottage is spotless! All bedding, towels fixtures and fittings are top class and to top it all you are yards from the most glorious beach ever! We spent Valentines and our 34th wedding anniversary here in February over 6 days and had the good fortune to experience beautiful sunny weather which meant we also spent every day on the beach with our 2 extremely happy dogs, and the cooler nights meant we also made good use of the fabulous wood burner too! The welcome basket of goodies and bottle of bubbly were very much appreciated and a very kind gesture. We ate out at Bridge 45 Seafood and steak restaurant in Lossiemouth and had a marvelous meal and we would highly recommend a visit. The butchers is also a great place to indulge yourself as the steaks from there were tremendous! All the bars and pubs were busy and the place had a bustling vibe about it. All in all I would recommend this cottage to everyone and plan to make a return visit very soon....

Home from home
Just finishing a 4 day stay at 6 Seatown over Christmas 2018. The accommodation is all you could wish for and a real home from home with plenty of additional touches from welcome pack to Christmas tree and decorations. When we arrived on Christmas Eve the place was spotless and warm- with a welcome bottle of bubbles in the fridge! No. 6 is a minute from miles of golden sand on the East beach with plenty of walking available not only there but the adjacent wooded area by the River Lossie as well as the West Beach. Whilst most places closed for Christmas there is a good choice of eating places within walking distance. WE WILL BE BACK.

About the neighbourhood
Lossiemouth can be found on the Moray coast some five miles north of Elgin. The town owes its existence to Elgin’s need for a port after the entrance to Loch Spynie became blocked by sand in the 1500's. Around Lossiemouth There are a number of nice walks from the cottage, along the beach of course, but also along the river and through the woods. Ospreys are frequently seen fishing near the mouth of the Lossie. Or perhaps a walk along the Esplanade to the harbour and marina, maybe stopping at one of the pubs or the Harbour tearooms for refreshments. A walk along the Esplanade probably wouldn’t be complete without a locally made ice cream! At the marina, why not book a boat trip to have a chance of a close encounter with some of the Moray Firth’s resident bottlenosed dolphins and other wildlife? For evening entertainment, there is live music at The Steamboat Inn on a Friday night or checkout what’s on at The Warehouse Theatre. If you have children with you, take them to explore the ruins of nearby Duffus castle, or on a wet day there’s plenty to keep them entertained swimming or skating at The Moray Leisure Centre in Elgin. For the practical side of things, Lossiemouth has a small supermarket, a greengrocers, a couple of butchers and a bakery. Otherwise there are 24 hour Tesco’s and Asda’s just 6 miles away in Elgin. However, if you want a total break, you can eat out at a number of fine restaurants or pick up a takeaway! Whisky Around half the distilleries in Scotland are found in Speyside, just on our doorstep. In fact, this area has the highest concentration of distilleries anywhere in the world. Many of them including such famous names as Glenfiddich, The Glenlivet, The Macallan and Glen Moray welcome visitors. What else to do? Here is a selection of the many other things that may be of interest (full details available at the cottage): • Visit the ruins of Elgin Cathedral ‘Lantern of the North’, once second in importance only to the cathedral at St Andrew’s • Get an insight into Scottish history with a local perspective at Elgin Museum, one of the oldest in the country • See the collection of vintage cars and motor cycles at Moray Motor Museum • Explore the ruins of Duffus Castle, with its old motte and bailey. Also incidently a great vantage point if the fighter jets are taking off from RAF Lossiemouth • Visit The Loft Live Music, Bistro and Outdoor Activities • Go Horse Riding • Baxters Highland Village for some shopping, a bowl of their famous soup, and a pancake with ice cream and toffee sauce….. • Visit the only mill in Scotland to transform fibre to finished product at Johnstons Cashmere Visitor Centre and Shop (also good for homebakes!!) • The kids would love the WDCS Wildlife Centre at Spey Bay • Play golf at the Championship Course at Moray Golf Club, Lossie, or Elgin Golf Club or one of the other numerous links or inland courses around the area.
Getting around
There is a bus route which will take you via Elgin up Speyside, past many of the distilleries. Trains run from Elgin to both Inverness and Aberdeen approximately every 2 hours. A car is recomendend!
Access

How to get there
With an increasing number of cheap airlinks to Scotland, Seatown Cottage is easily accessible from anywhere in the world. It is about 50 miles from Inverness and about 75 miles from Aberdeen airports. Car hire is readily available at both airports, with Avis, Hertz and 1car1 being amongst those dealers represented. From either Inverness or Aberdeen, follow the main A96 in to Elgin. From the South follow the A96 to Aviemore, then the A95 down the Spey Valley then North via Rothes on the A941. At the Halfords roundabout in Elgin, take the A941 towards Lossiemouth. Passing the Buccaneer petrol station and fighter jet, follow this road for about 6 miles. In Lossie take the 5th right, signed to the East Beach car park and caravan park. Carry on past the pedestrian bridge to the beach, and Seatown Cottage is on your right.
