Sea and course fishing, water sports and stables are all within easy reach, as are three golf courses. Visit the National Trust properties at Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy or take a boat to Brownsea Island. Visit Lulworth Cove & Castle, Durdle Door, Athelhampton House, or Thomas Hardy's Cottage and Max Gate. The two bedroomed, 2 bathroom Garden View Cottage, with full access to the two-acre landscaped garden, is the annex to the 17th Century thatched Roffy House. The property was developed by its famous operatic singer owners in the 1920s as a retreat for artists, musicians and dancers from London; and is reputed to have been stayed in by Thomas Hardy on his wedding tour with Emma Gifford, and often visited by his second wife (Florence) for concerts. Children should be supervised by an adult at all times round the fish pond, which is one of a number of special garden seating areas. The property enjoys many Public Footpaths and Bridleways on its doorstep, including walks over the fields to Corfe Castle village or up, over the hill to the beaches of Studland Bay, Swanage, and the Jurassic Coastal Path. The cottage has the benefit of a wood burning stove located in a panoramic library/sitting room overlooking the large landscaped garden, with the modern comforts of Smart TV, SkyQ, Netflix, Amazon Prime, DVD and free Wi Fi internet. If you wish to use the log burner (it only takes wood) a starter log basket can be pre-ordered for £35 (including extra cleaning costs). Please note the cottage has a spiral staircase to access the upstairs master bedroom, which might be difficult for the elderly or less mobile Guests. The second bedroom is on the ground floor, which can be used for those with less mobility. The rest of the cottage is laid out on one level, with no stairs. Children should be supervised by an adult when using the spiral staircase. Garden View Cottage provides a quiet location within a beautiful garden setting and countryside, close to the sea and beaches. It is centrally placed for exploring the whole of the Isle of Purbeck and wider Dorset, with its lovely villages and heritage coastline. A strict No Smoking & No Barbecues policy has to apply due to the fire hazard with the thatch.More

About the neighbourhood
There are many Public Footpaths and Bridleways, on the cottage's doorstep, you can take to over the hill to the Studland Bay beaches and on to explore the Jurassic Coastline, A world Heritage Site. The area around Corfe Castle and the Isle of Purbeck is unspoilt and beautiful, with many historic and local attractions mentioned above. The ruined castle (NT) is very popular as are the extensive sandy beaches around Studland & Swanage Bays.
Getting around
Corfe Castle is one and a half miles away, where there is a good, well stocked village shop and a number of excellent pubs for food: The Greyhound overlooks the castle from its gardens, and the Banks Arms, Castle Inn and the Fox all serve good food with good garden areas. In Corfe there is also the famous Purbeck Steam Railway station for rides from Corfe to Wareham and the seaside town and beaches at Swanage. A perfect starting point for you to follow in the foot steps of a 'Famous Five' Enid Blyton adventure.
