Sea and course fishing, water sports and stables are all within easy reach, as are three golf courses. Visit the National Trust properties at Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy or take a boat to Brownsea Island. Visit Lulworth Castle and Cove, Durdle Door, Athelhampton House, or Thomas Hardy's Cottage and Max Gate. The two bedroomed, 2 bathroom Garden View Cottage, with access to the two-acre landscaped garden, is the annex to the 17th Century thatched Roffy House. The main House was developed by its famous operatic singer owners in the 1920s as a retreat for artists, musicians and dancers from London; and is reputed to have been stayed in by Thomas Hardy on his wedding tour with Emma Gifford, and often visited by his second wife for concerts. Small children should be supervised round the fish pond, which is one of a number of special garden seating areas. The property enjoys many Public Footpaths and Bridleways on its doorstep, including walks over the fields to Corfe Castle village or over the hill to the beaches of Studland Bay, Swanage, and the Jurassic Coastal Path. The cottage has the benefit of a wood burning stove located in a panoramic library/sitting room, with the modern comforts of Smart TV, Sky+HD, DVD and free Broadband Wi Fi internet. A starter log basket for the log burner can be pre-ordered for £29 (including cleaning). Garden View Cottage provides a quiet location within a beautiful garden setting, close to the sea and beaches. It is centrally placed for exploring the unique Isle of Purbeck, with its lovely villages and heritage coastline.More
