Interaction with guests
Stable Cottage is within the curtilage of Midlands so we do live on site but are down the gravel drive. We say hello upon arrival but otherwise you are left alone to enjoy your holiday. We can of course advise on where to go and things to see and happy to be contacted during your stay if you need us.

About the neighbourhood
Chideock is only a stone's throw from Bridport (and West Bay) to the east and Charmouth to the west, both of which are outstanding holiday destinations in their own right. Chideock has it's own holiday access to the Jurassic Coast via Seatown. This is the favoured parking place for holiday makers who wish to climb the famous Golden Cap, which is only 2 miles away. Seatown beach is also wll known for fossilling. The seating area outside the Anchor Inn at Seatown is a magical spot to watch the sunsets - on the beach (see phot gallery). Also famed for Thomas Hardy walking to the pub for a well earned pint.

Situated in one of the most picturesque valleys in this part of the county, and spelled as Chideock in the Doomsday Book, this peaceful view of the village street lined with well...

Chideock is on the A35 which is the main coast road. The village is about 3 miles west of Bridport and is part of the Jurassic Coast.

If you are travelling west on the A35 you will have come around Bridport on the by-pass. As you enter the
village you will pass the George Inn on your right. Soon afterwards you will pass the Central Stores shop on your left. As
you begin to go uphill there is the turning on your left signposted to Seatown.

If you are on the A35 and coming from the west you will drop down the steep hill from Morecombelake. Just
before you reach the bottom of the hill you will see the Clockhouse pub. Turn right and we are 20 yards down on the right.
