Getting around
The house's location makes it ideal for day-tripping by car to pretty much all of the island.
The house is only 10 minutes from Portlaoise and Portarlington train stations. A reliable and reasonable cab service can be recommended.
From Portarlington, Dublin is under an hour. Portarlington also gives you direct rail access to Galway and Westport.
From Portlaoise, there are direct services to Cork and Killarney. Train travel is a great way to see the country. Getting a cab to Portarlington, and then taking the train to Dublin, for instance, gives great freedom from having to find and pay for parking. The house is also well served by bus. Dublin Coach provides a service from Dubin Airport to nearby towns and villages.
