The most northerly of the Outer Hebrides and the largest, The Isle of Lewis is the most welcoming of places. Warm hospitality is just as embedded as the beautiful beaches, the wildlife, the plant life, the many historical sites and the wonderfully clean air. Stornoway is a picturesque 30 minute drive away and surprises most first time visitors with its range of facilities and vibrant social scene, host of shops, pubs, restaurants and regular events. Lewis is home to many world famous historical sites. As well as the Iron Age Fort, visit the breathtaking Neolithic Callanish Standing Stones. For the more adventurous, sea kayaking, climbing, sailing and surfing are a few of the many adventure activities available on the island. The rocky reefs, beautiful beaches and cliffs that characterise the Lewis Coastline help to create some of the best surfing conditions in Europe. The Western Isles is home to an abundance of impressive wildlife and can boast Golden Eagles, Dolphins, Otters and Seals amongst its residents. You may even spot a whale. More
