Our spacious well equipped holiday home is in a peaceful sheltered setting with large enclosed garden and fantastic sea views over to Little Bernera and the Atlantic. There are 2 large double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom and a double bed settee in the downstairs lounge if sleeping 8. The second sizeable lounge upstairs has a large corner sofa and patio windows which open onto a Juliet balcony taking full advantage of the views – a great place to chill with a large glass of wine. Bosta Beach and the Iron Age House are only two miles away – a very pleasant walk – there are also many other stunning beaches within easy drive. Golden Eagles nest locally and are frequently seen – the area is perfect for nature lovers, ramblers and cyclists alike to explore. Water sports such as surfing and kayaking are also popular activities. Local boat trips are available to the islands or you can visit the nearby Callanish Standing Stones, the Black House village at Gearrannan or travel slightly further afield to the lighthouse north of Ness with it's spectacular coastal scenery. The nearby village of Breacleit has a small shop and petrol station and there is also a community centre with cafe and internet services. The main town of Lewis is Stornoway which is a distance of 25 miles (40 minutes drive) and has two large supermarkets to choose from which do home deliveries. Facilities There are two bathrooms – the downstairs one includes an overhead shower but the ceiling height is a bit low (old part of the house!) so if you’re over 5’8” you might need to crouch a bit to use it! Our well equipped kitchen includes dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, full height fridge freezer and tumble drier (which is in the porch). There is a separate dining room off the open plan kitchen and lounge and the porch for leaving outside clothes, boots etc. As well as the oil-fired central heating there is a wood burning stove downstairs for cosy evenings in. There are televisions in both lounges as well as the master bedroom so the kids can watch their favourite channels without interrupting yours! We’ve supplied a DVD and CD player along with a selection of videos and CDs as well as a docking station for use with your own mp3 player. Books and games in situ too. Mobile signal can be a bit erratic but there is a working telephone box opposite the house just in case all else fails (which hasn’t happened yet!). Satellite broadband has been installed so you will have internet access and wifi. A cot, high chair and safety stair gate are available on request. We don’t allow smoking in the house.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Great accommodation
Fantastic house in a lovely quiet area. Could not be bettered. It was obvious that the owners have gone to great lengths to make the property as good and welcoming as it was

Stunning
Stunning location. Loved being on our own small island. Great place to return to after a day out, always warm and welcoming. All possible amenities, very clean and lovely. Lots of diving gannets made a spectacular display. So many places to explore, time went too quickly.

Fantastic Trip and Beautiful Cottage
My husband and I stayed at the gorgeous Glen Cottage when we had work on Stornoway and had to stay a few nights! Evelyn the host was so helpful and very accommodating. The cottage was immaculate and very homely! The bath upstairs was a huge luxury with beautiful bath and shampoo left out for us! It was ideal for our dogs with a gated garden! Bosta Beach is not too far and worth going for the white sands and breathtaking views! We can’t wait to go back and stay here again!

Stunning views from a beautiful cottage on a scenic island!
This beautiful cottage is located in a sheltered cove on the NW corner of Lewis on the Island of Bernera. It was a wonderful place to stay, not only for the magnificent views of the Atlantic coast from the lounge, but a great venue to venture forth and visit the whole of Lewis. If you want a quiet, peaceful and idyllic location then this cottage is for you! On a practical note, the cottage is well equipped and has both a wood fire and oil fired central heating to keep you warm in the Winter. To quote the famous phrase, this cottage has exactly 'what it says on the tin'! W would definitely go again! A fair drive from Stornaway or Tarbert but well worth it. Don't go here if you are expecting a plethora of night life! But if you want a rest or just to enjoy nature then this IS the place for you!

Stunning
This is a great location, miles from anywhere, a sheltered sun-trap (at least when we were there!) looking out over the mouth of Loch Roag to the North Atlantic. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and the cottage is well prepared and well equipped. Every evening we all gravitated to the upstairs sitting room to watch the sea, the birds and the sunset. We loved it.

Peaceful hidden dream holiday cottage
This cottage is very remote which is fantastic for a relaxing holiday. Has everything you could need, fishing rod to a well stocked first aid kit, to a awesome welcome basket. The views are stunning and are ever changing. The beach near by is amazing and very quiet with golden white sands. But do remember that everything on the isle of lewis is shut on a Sunday so be prepared. We're looking forward to staying again.

Superb house and location
Quality house for a weeks stay on Lewis. Quiet location with easy access to Stornaway (about 30 mins drive) and all the beaches south including Cliff (45 mins) and Luskentyre (1hr 10 mins). Well equipped kitchen and bedrooms and lots of room to chill out in. Thanks again.

Beautiful relaxing location
We had a great 2 weeks, the weather was Scottish so it did rain on a few days, but we had at least half a dozen really nice sunny days. The beaches were superb especially those around Uig and we would recommend the boat trips also from Uig. The house was clean with everything you could need and with a fantastic view over the sea. The owner even provided fresh towels and linen for the 2nd week which was a nice surprise. If you want a peaceful relaxing holiday then you will definitely appreciate the location. We did see Golden eagles most days we were there and one day 3 were circulating the house.

The house was very comfortable and in a beautiful area. Just a shame that the weather was not. That great!

Mrs
A beautiful cottage - the bed was exceptionally comfy! Lovely views from the lounge over to Little Bernera and only a short drive to Bosta beach. A brilliant spot for birdwatchers with golden eagles, merlins and cuckoos all seen from the garden. I'd definitely recommend.
