Coyote Ridge Lodge

Overview
Holiday Rental House -
2 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 6
Spearfish, South Dakota
A unique, secluded, creek-side vacation cabin nestled on 10 acres of pine, aspen and oak in beautiful Maitland Canyon, halfway between Spearfish and Deadwood. Enjoy morning coffee on the sunny, spacious deck. Take an afternoon picnic down to the meadow beside the creek. Curl up by the cozy wood fire on cool evenings or gaze at a sky full of stars at night.

This is not your typical modern vacation home. The naturally weathered cabin was hand built in 1978 using locally harvested rough lumber, homemade windows and one-of-a-kind walnut flooring. The main house has all the comforts of home: sleeps 6 with an upstairs loft with queen bed, a downstairs bedroom/common room with big-screen TV, a queen bed and queen-size futon (this open-design room has limited privacy). Larger groups (up to 10) can also rent the “bunkhouse,” a small second cabin...

Thanks for the nice comments Ron. Glad you had a good time and hope you come back. (sorry about the pesky mosquitoes; they're usually not so bad.)

Beautiful cabin & views. Very clean. I enjoyed my stay. Everything was available to use in the cabin & made packing so much easier for me since we were only staying a weekend.

About the neighbourhood
Guests, especially kids, love the views from the loft and the deck, the woods, the creek and nearby hiking. Black Hills National Forest boundary is 1/4 mile away. The woods are populated with deer, wild turkey, raccoons, foxes, porcupines, red squirrels, hawks and bald eagles and, of course, coyotes. The creek is a rushing torrent in June, a placid brook in July and usually dried up in August (although in 2015 it ran all summer).
