In 2019 our family bought this lovely old home and began the preservation of this diamond in the rough. While we originally thought it was built around 1911 (from the only deed we could locate in the Lake County Annex), recent new discoveries indicate that the house was built by Lydia Steele Moodey and her husband, Frank Chapin Moodey after their marriage in 1881. Lydia was a daughter of George Steele who built the Steele Mansion Inn located five properties east of our home. Frank's family owned multiple businesses in Lake County and he listed his profession on the census as Real Estate. In addition, you can explore the servants' quarters on the third floor and peek at the 1400 square foot two-story barn which is next on our renovation schedule. The property also includes a beautiful 1.2 acre lawn filled with trees and rose bushes. A full kitchen and 1500 piece china collection may inspire you to entertain in the grand Victorian style...or you can curl up in one of the many cozy nooks and window seats of the house with a cup of tea and a book from our library. Enjoy life at a slower pace during your stay, while you also marvel in modern plumbing, HVAC and wifi!
