We took the teenage kids here and words can’t describe how blown away we all were by this incredible place. It is simply spectacular, well appointed….and of course the bath was the highlight. We saw dolphins, pelicans, bird colonies, the beach is so secluded with the most pristine water we have ever seen. And oh the stars at night. Thalia Haven is a must do.

Secluded hideaway
If you need a place to escape from everything and not see another person for the entire trip then Thalia Haven is the spot. Uninterrupted views across Great Oyster Bay and the sound of waves chasing onto the rocks below emphasise the remoteness . This a self catering escape so you will need to bring everything food and drink wise as its a 4 gate trip to leave the property is you forget something. Once your settled the huge fire place and fully equipped kitchen make it easy to relax. The Master bedroom is the best room to pick as it has good cupboard and hanging space if you’re staying and need to unpack. The second best room has the bathroom but no cupboard space to unpack, so the couches come in handy if you dont want to live out of a suitcase. Make sure you try the outdoor bath and sauna as they all make your stay just that bit more amazing. There is no washing machine or dryer so the fire comes in handy to dry wet towels. Thalia is a truly great place to escape the world and 5 days was not enough to appreciate the total seclusion and beauty of the location. Will definitely be back to enjoy the serenity again.

Absolutely amazing - one night not enough!
Wow, what a place. The pictures don't do it justice, it is breathtaking. We stayed only one night, and it really wasn't enough. Bathing under the stars taken to the next level, you really have to experience it. Susan was an excellent host, providing all the info we needed, and the house is top notch. Particularly the kitchen, with a commercial-grade oven, or the option to cook over fire. We will be back!

Magnificent pet friendly retreat and so remote you won’t want to leave!
When arriving at this property you are just amazed by how spectacular it really is! Our family drove from both ends of the state - my brother and his partner and two children from Hobart, and my mum and dad and husband and I from the far north west. We had packed our gourmet Tasmanian produce and dined like kings and queens 👸 and we all just wised we could’ve had one more night at least - no one wanted to leave. The views are amazing and we went fishing of the rocks not far from the house. We even manage to catch a few fish. We found ample supplies in the kitchen to assist you if you’d forgotten anything, and it’s so good when you can drink the beautiful tapwater! My brother bought his dog along and she just enjoyed that whole time there, and the children thought it was just amazing to cook marshmallows on the open fire. Had of been winter we may have lit the inside fires, but there was really no need. This is a fantastic place to catch up.with family or friends and just take in the ambience of being in such a remote and extraordinary part of the world!! Everyone loved the inner courtyard and how that would be so cooling in the summer 🌺 and the little herb garden outside and all the daisies to look at, it was so pretty! I even enjoyed the bath on the deck in the afternoon! If I had more time there I would’ve read many more books of the library shelf in one of the bedrooms and I’m sure we would have utilised many of the games that were supplied in the lounge. There is plenty of room to separate if you need and have a little bit of quiet time, but the best part was how large the kitchen table was and we were all able to sit around it together. Thanks goes out though to Sheridan my sister-in-law and Susan for organising our little holiday retreat ❣️I can’t wait to stay again!!

Magical with a touch of European nostalgia. Kids and dog did not want to leave!!
Thalia Haven you have captured our families heart. On arrival we fell instantly in love. The stunning views, the olive trees in the courtyards, the outdoor bath, shower and sauna, and the space, privacy and setting of the bedrooms was perfect for our intergenerational family get together. The kids were kept entertained playing running races, hide and seek, outside dance parties, swimming in the beautiful white sandy beach, sliding down the dunes, hunting for lizards, a selection of board games and fishing of the rocks. Another highlight is the amazing kitchen that had everything I needed and more. My number one tip would be to plan what you want to take with you to cook, you do not want to have to leave this amazing property for supplies. Its rustic, charming and won’t disappoint. Book early though so you don't miss out!

Unbelievable
Our entire experience at Thalia was beyond our expectation. Susan was a brilliant host leading up to our stay and with any questions while we were there.
We arrived on the day most of Australia started to isolate, and we honestly felt like we were the only people left on earth for those 2 days of our stay. It was truly a grounding and revitalizing experience, which we absolutely needed.
Thank you for sharing your property, the house, the bath, the scenery....it would be hard to top this experience.

Magnificent
An amazing property. We stayed with my sister and her family for 3 nights (4 adults, 5 kids, 1 dog). The house is the superb - incredible design and craftsmanship. It would work just as well for a couple as a family. Beautiful views from every room. Kitchen and dining areas that are a pleasure to utilise. Absolutely private. Four bed rooms in seperate but closely spaced buildings. Each with a very comfortable king bed. Also two single beds and a cot. Kids beach toys are provided (thankyou). We caught Wrasse and squid off the rocks. The beach is a short walk away.
I cannot recommend Thalia highly enough and we are already planning our next trip(s)

Breathtaking.
Wow...
I don’t know what else to say. Nothing can do this place justice until you actually visit. The excellent reviews, the website gallery and the photos on social media all suggest something extraordinary... but it still doesn’t prepare you for just how breathtaking Thalia is when you actually arrive.
Truly the most amazing property I’ve stayed at in Australia, surrounded by an absolutely beautiful landscape. The most relaxing holiday I’ve ever had!
Your vision was on a whole other level, Susan, and the reality of it is beyond beautiful. Thank you so much!

Perfect and memorable
Thalia Haven was magnificent. From every angle the property is spectacular and our two nights there were perfect (although we would have preferred to stay for longer). Thalia is off grid but still has all the mod cons: great cooking facilities, heating etc. We didn’t need to use the heaters as the fireplace warmed the area adequately. The views from the house are amazing and we were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins in the water one morning. The sauna and the outside bath are wonderful - a convert to a sauna now! There is plenty of cut firewood which made life easy. The kitchen is my dream kitchen and basic cooking ingredients - flour, oil sugar, tea and cereals are provided. Guests just need to supply milk, butter, bread and any meats or vegies that they want to cook. The open fireplace in the main building is sensational and there are plenty of board games and books provided to keep yourself occupied. As there were only two of us, we only used the main area but all other parts of the property looked equally comfortable. We will return to Thalia again and make sure we book another night or two. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review! Thalia in winter can be spectacular: cool enough for a nice fire to roar all day, and I’m glad the dolphins paid you a visit, so magical to see... Please do let us welcome you back again the next time your travels bring you to Tasmania.

60th Birthday with Good Friends
Myself and My Husband along with Good friends from Sydney and my three fur kids ...in total 8 of us stayed for 5 wonderfully relaxing nights at Thalia Haven. We loved the large bedrooms set up in a court yard arrangement, which allowed privacy and comfortable beds for couples. The main bedroom in the main house is also spacious and comfortable with the most amazing views out to coles bay and freycinet.
The two onsuite bathrooms with shower, hand basin and toilets are clean and tidy and with the large bath towels, hand towels and face cloths provided was excellent. Supplied also are beach towels and warm throw rugs if needed. The kitchen pantry is well stocked with breakfast needs and stocked with an assortment of cooking needs, we made muffins and cakes using the supplies in the pantry.Great cooking space in the kitchen, and a big round dining table, serviettes, utensils, place mats and an abundance of condiments. The lounge is spacious and comfy. The view from the front of the house is spectacular...all with large windows and doors to help you just relax and absorb the beauty.
My three fur kids loved our daily short walk to the private Beach every morning for a play and a swim, returning to the house to lay and relax in the Sun..
The house has plenty of outside Area to sit and admire the magnificent coast line .The outside bath, which some of us indulged in, was sooooo good, lying there onefelt like the only person in the world, with the seclusion of the house, means no neighbours.
Easy instructions to find the house were given, with a welcoming and departing message from Susan.
We highly recommend Thalia Haven and are already making plans to return.

I’m glad that Thalia worked so well for such a special occasion! Dogs have an exhilarating holiday at Thalia, while the humans have a chance to relax and reconnect. Please do come again :)
