High Bank in Porlock is a deceptively spacious holiday cottage for up to 6 guests. High Bank is situated in Hawkcombe, which is a pretty and quiet part of the village and within walking distance of all the village amenities. Perfectly located for walking. High Bank in Porlock is a charming end of terrace property with three bedrooms; one double, one twin (can be made up as super king-size double on request) and one bedroom with bunk beds. Hawkcombe is the name of the enchanting wooded combe that High Bank sits at the foot of, the road outside the cottage turns into a bridleway further up the combe, which then leads all the way up to Hawkcombe Head, high on the moors above - a great walk if you are looking for a challenge! Sleeps up to 6 in three bedrooms One double bedroom, one twin (can be made up as super king-size double bed on request) and one bedroom with bunk-beds. Comfortable sitting room with wood-burner, Small conservatory with comfortable seating adjoined to the sitting room Small patio with table and chairs directly behind the cottage 'Secret' riverside garden opposite the cottage (across the road) for guests' sole use Car parking for up to two cars Up to 2 dogs welcome for supplement of £15 per dog Bed linen and towels provided Wifi, heating and electricity included Arrive from 4 pm Depart by 10 am Note, the steps to the riverside garden are steep and due to the location, children must be supervised. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or leave them unattended in the cottage at any time. As you enter High Bank cottage, a door to the left leads you to a pretty cottage dining room with woodburner stove, large round table and chairs for 6 and book shelves each side of the fireplace. From there you enter the kitchen which is well equipped with a cupboards, sink, dishwasher and electric range cooker with six rings, a grill and two ovens. On from the kitchen is a large utility room with fridge/freezer, washing machine, sink and downstairs toilet. There is cupboard space with ironing board, iron and hanging space for coats etc. Plenty of room here to wash off muddy boots or dogs! Back at the front door, turning right takes you to the lounge with second woodburner stove, TV, bookcases (stocked with books and games), sofa and seating. A door from the lounge takes you into the conservatory - a lovely space to sit during the day, a small sofa, chairs and rug and then sliding glass doors lead you to the patio at the back of the property. The patio is paved and secluded. There is a gate to passageway along the side of the property to the front and this access to the patio and from there to the utility room makes returning from a long walk easy. Upstairs, left takes you to the double room at the front of the property, with window and view to the front, plus hanging space and drawers. Next to the double (and closed off from the stairs and landing by a curtain, there is a modern bathroom with spa bath, shower over and saniflo toilet. Turning right from the top of the stairs takes you into a spacious twin room - with beds which convert to a king size bed if required. There is a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The shower room has mains toilet, basin and small window and next door is the third bed room at the back, with good quality wooden bunk beds (3ft). Both bunks have bedside lights and storage boxes. Double windows in this room look to the rear of the cottage. There is a small courtyard/patio area directly behind the cottage, with table and chairs - the perfect spot for a morning coffee. Opposite the cottage (across the small road) steps lead down to a private garden area beside the river, take a book and enjoy listening to the river running by! Please note, the steps down to the riverside garden are steep and due to the location, children must be supervised. The speed/flow of the river can vary considerably depending on the time of year and recent rainfall. There is allocated parking for two cars in the spaces opposite the cottage (across the lane).More

This is a lovely cottage in an excellent location. Tastefully furnished and decorated, the property has everything we needed for our stay and was spotlessly clean on arrival. There are lovely walks straight from the door with books and maps provided. The cottage is situated...More
