Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Northumbria trip
A lovely cottage to stay at, we stayed 4 nights and were welcomed with a basket including some juice, wine and cookies. Location is central Alnwick and you could not ask for better. Cottage includes most everything you could expect, very clean and decorated in a lovely way. As a location, is great as a base to explore places like Alnwick gardens, Bamburgh castle, seahouses, Amble, Alnmouth, and the list goes on. 100% would and will look to stay here again, also so much more to explore !

A lovely cosy cottage for a perfect holiday.
This is a lovely cottage and so perfectly situated for a holiday exploring Northumberland. The cottage is beautiful, from the stunning fireplace to the little touches all through the cottage that make it feel cosy and welcoming. The welcome basket was so nice to arrive to after a long drive. The cottage is in the heart of Alnwick and all the places you would want to visit are a scenic short drive away, though we ended up spending three days just enjoying Alnwick itself. Excellent contact from owners too. Thoroughly recommended.

Idyllic cottage stay
An idyllic stone cottage close to all the attractions, pubs, shops and restaurants of Alnwick. Thoughtfully equipped and beautifully presented, it is a peaceful, comfortable, luxurious home from home. My husband and I loved staying here for 3 nights while we explored Alnwick and surrounding area by bus and train.

Top class
We love Puddleduck Cottage. It's comfortable and has everything you need, as well as being ideally located in the centre of town. We arrived in the middle of the heatwave so the fan was a very welcome addition! A really top class cottage and I'm sure we'll be back again!

Perfect in every way…..
Puddleduck Cottage is beautiful, cosy, well equipped and maintained to a very high standard. It is the perfect location in Alnwick and only a short walk to castle, gardens and a wide variety of excellent restaurants. Alnwick itself is a great location for visiting many attractions around Northumberland as it is only a 30/45 minute drive to Bamburgh, Cragside, Seahouses, Holy Island to name a few. Janet, the host, responded quickly and helpfully when contacted. We look forward to a return visit as it couldn’t have been a more perfect week away.

Lovely place to stay in fab location
Just come back from a gorgeous stay at Puddleduck cottage. Could not be in a better location - it's just perfect for walking around the corner to get to everything you need. Alnwick castle and gardens, shops and nice places to eat and drink. Janet the owner really has thought of everything and even left us an anniversary card, the cottage is pretty, quiet, clean and had all we wanted. Lovely pretty little private yard to sit out at the back, would not think you were so close to Alnwick centre. Parking excellent and had a great stay, weather even smiled on us! Perfect for a couple.

We will be back!
Just loved the cottage, could have stayed for another month. It was clean and very spacious. Everything that we needed had been provided. Great location for the small town and restaurants - we particularly enjoyed Lillburns. Janet was brilliant, answering all my queries before we arrived. We had never been to the north east before and had a wonderful time exploring both the national park and the coast. My partner enjoyed playing golf at Alnmouth - I enjoyed lunch in the clubhouse. The week that we went was only a week or so since lockdown restrictions had been lifted to enable restaurants to take diners inside. We did find that quite a number of restaurants were either full or not open yet for inside dining, largely due to staff shortages so if you particularly want to go somewhere book in advance.

fantastic, a real home from home
We've just returned from a 4 night stay at puddleduck cottage, a real home from home with everything you need, really clean and comfortable beds. The cottage is centrally located and within easy walking distance of the small town centre. If I could change a couple of things it would have been the weather and that all bars and restaurants were open as there were so many to choose from. A really lovely break away in a lovely place.

A delightful accommodation
We stayed at Puddleduck cottage for three nights and although it’s only a 3 person accommodation, there is plenty of space making it feel open and airy. It’s just round the corner from Alnwick high street, yet parking is easy with a 24hrshop carpark just around the corner. We used this all the time. The castle and the gardens are just down the road and there are plenty of other places within a short drive. The owners were very obliging and helpful, and seemed to have though of everything. A great stay.
