Cubble Head is a lovely Grade 2 listed 18th century farmhouse with panoramic views in Burtersett, a traditional Dales village just 1.5 miles from the bustling market town of Hawes. It is peacefully situated on a back road high above the valley. The cottage has been sympathetically and fully restored with taste and passion and now blends traditional charm such as beamed ceilings, solid oak ledged and braced doors and a log fire, with all modern conveniences. There are 4 bedrooms, including a superking size bed, all with high quality bed linen from John Lewis and 2 separate bath / shower rooms. Downstairs, there is a lovely oak breakfast kitchen, a living room and separate dining room so the cottage is spacious for a family. Cubble Head has a garden and paddock of 0.75 acres with 3 separate outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the sun and a... Read more

About the neighbourhood
Burtersett is a peaceful, timeless village, set on a slight hillside above the Wensleydale valley road. The name means high pasture and the fields around the village are still full of grazing sheep. The road through the village winds past pretty cottages and continues to Lake Semerwater, famed by geologists for its Ice Age relics and now enjoyed by canoeists and swimmers. Cubble Head is situated on the outskirts of Burtersett. From Burtersett, there is a lovely walk on a paved pathway through meadows to Hawes, about 1.5 miles away. The path was paved so that the Minister could walk from Hawes to the chapel in Burtersett without getting his robes muddy!Hawes is the highest market town in England and a place of real character. It has cobbled streets and a weekly street market. There are ma... more
Getting around
We recommend a car if you want to visit the many attractions in Wensleydale and Swaledale but it is perfectly possible to leave the car at the cottage and explore on foot. Hawes is close enough (1.5 miles on good paths) to walk for shopping and eating out.

Cubble Head is easily accessible from the A1 and the M1.
From the A1, turn West at Bedale on to the A684 towards Leyburn and Hawes. Cubble Head is 26 miles - about 40 minutes drive from the A1 exit. This is a delightful drive along the scenic Wensleydale valley. There are a succession of pretty villages - many with real character and ancient chuches, village greens, attractive cottages etc. There are also lovely views to the opposite side of the valley and Castle Bolton. Many villages have a tea room or pub so there is no shortage of refreshment stops! Particularly good places for a break might be: Leyburn - 3 village squares, good shopping, plenty of tea rooms
West Witton - charming village with the famous Wensleydale Heifer gastro pub, Aysgarth- the well known triple waterfall is just...
