Gîte superbement situé dans un site luxuriant
Nous avons séjourné 3 semaines du 29 juillet au 18 août 2017 dans le gite du Papayer et ce fut un enchantement, d’abord le lieu dans un site au calme, avec une végétation époustouflante et la situation, centrale, entre Basse Terre et Haute Terre, qui permet de déambuler très facilement sur l’île. Quel régal de se réveiller et admirer ce paysage. Le gîte, équipé à souhait, est très agréable et très confortable. Nous avons aussi pu profiter du jacuzzi. La cerise sur le gâteau est l'accueil réservé par Philippe sur place, qui de surcroît vous donne toutes les informations utiles sur la Gwada et vous propose la table d’hôte. Je n’ai qu’une envie : y revenir….

Perfect Hospitality and Tranquillity
My husband and I had an absolutely delightful stay at the Gite. Our hosts were warm and accommodating, available with any information or support we might request. They started by meeting us at the airport, which was wonderful as we landed by daylight, but it was dark by the time we left the airport. They also provided a lovely "Table d'hôte" as our welcome meal. While they offered us local rum that evening, we also found a small bottle in our living room - along with the requisite fresh lime and sugar. Ideally, for guests from the U.S., someone would speak some French since that is the language of the Gite's hosts. Nevertheless, we suspect that Philippe could make do in English as needed.
The Gite itself is lovely: First, it is in a quiet setting on a hillside. The surroundings are lush green, and the neighbors include some cattle and chickens across the road. It is an idyllic setting with only occasional vehicles passing below. And the best is the terrace with which to enjoy the surroundings: covered in case of rain showers, but open on three sides. We ate our breakfasts there every morning (of fresh bread or croissants from local boulangeries, which is such a treat for Americans accustomed to sliced bread from grocery stores or bread sold as a "French baguette" that really is not). And a handy coffee maker makes individual cups from sachets that are like teabags. Very simple!
We also spent evenings on the terrace because driving in Guadeloupe after dark is a bit of a challenge. (The dark also exacerbates the challenge of driving up the very steep driveway and into the parking area.) We comfortably made our way home each day before sunset - and then enjoyed a glass of wine on the terrace. Absolutely lovely. Oh, and the Jacuzzi is available in the evenings under the stars and moonlight!
Within the Gite, there are two very comfortable and pleasant bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a beautiful shower with plentiful hot water. There is a TV that we never used; and wireless internet that worked just fine.
A last point is location: This Gite is virtually in the center of Guadeloupe. We were able to reach the farthest point on either side of the island within an hour - whether taking the road that crosses through the rainforest on the Western side for hiking, waterfalls and the volcano, or heading to the many beaches and the breathtaking spit of land on the eastern side. And our host was ready with a map to show us his recommended beaches, favorite spots and restaurants.
We recommend this Gite for a couple or for two couples who seek quiet and convenience. We appreciated that the hosts were both eager to make our stay special and sensitive to giving us our space and privacy.

Un séjour de rêve.
Un séjour très agréable dans un gite très bien équiper, chambres avec une excellente literies climatiser, dans les couleurs locales avec tout le confort moderne.
Situe dans un endroit très calme et verdoyant. Bien situe, pas très loin des commerces et des plages.
A votre arrivée vous trouverait le nécessaire pour commencer votre séjour rhum, citron vert, sucres pour préparer vos T punch et plein d'autre attention.
Le plus de ce gite vous le trouverais au-dessus ou Philou vous fera apprécier sa table d’hôte, des soirées inoubliables à la découverte des saveurs locale pour un tarif light.
