A few steps to the beach or pathway leading to The Bluff and on using the Heysen Trail past Petrel Cove, Kings Beach and Waitpinga cliffs; or hire a bike and follow the pathway into the town centre or along the coast to Port Elliot; further still to Goolwa and the Murray Mouth. Flagging enthusiasm could mean putting yourselves and your bikes on the Cockle train for the return trip. Yelki by the Sea is well located, as just a short amble along the beachfront will find you at The Beach House Cafe, to enjoy delicious wood fired pizza or a curry, or go to the ever popular Yilki Store, where Ashley and Jenny essentially manage to offer the rest.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

A quiet, peaceful and tranquil retreat, beautifully appointed
We came to Yelki seeking some restful down time for 3 nights in a beautifully appointed cottage with every practical need covered and that's exactly what we were able to enjoy! Thank you Sue for your warm welcome and to both you and John for your kindness and some great chats! My wife and I have travelled a lot in Australia and this would be one of the best ever B&B self contained retreats we have stayed in. Furthermore the seascape setting was the essence of tranquillity and we enjoyed some great walks including walking around and all over Granite Island at Victor Harbor. The return ride to Goolwa from Victor Harbor on the Cockle Train was both enjoyable and quite inspirational to experience some working history only made possible by a wonderful voluntary organisation. There is a warm and welcoming ambience about Yelki by the Sea enhanced by the warm wood fire in the lounge and a strong sense of peace in staying there. It was the perfect base for exploring both Victor Harbor and the greater Fleurieu Peninsula region. We were blessed with wonderful hosts and without doubt intend returning to stay again. Best by far
I have been visiting the area for years, but Yelki is by far the best place I have stayed. The self contained accommodation has stirring views directly over Encounter Bay. Owners are on site for any issues, and always helpful and charming without bothering you. Even coming in to help light the fire if that is not a skill you bring with you. The beds are comfortable and pillows suitable to a range of needs. The kitchen is neat but has a good range of utensils for any cooking you might want. Meanwhile there are places to eat within a minutes walk, if that is the better option. With so much to see and do in the area, Yelki makes a perfect spot to enjoy the Fleureiu.

Fabulous in summer...and even better in winter
We stayed at Yelki by the Sea over the June long weekend. It was maybe our 4th or 5th visit over a number of years. It is located over the road from the beachfront & a bike/walking path and five minutes drive to the Victor Harbor town centre. A minute’s walk away is the local deli and a great pizza & curry café – look out for the live music they on offer from time to time. Yelki offers a real sense of history but is also really comfortable and well equipped. Perfect for two people but as it has two bedrooms it can also cater for four. The owners are fantastic and are ready to help if you need. We highly recommend it!

A gem of a place, we'd happily spend another two weeks here.
We were lucky enough to spend two weeks at Yelki by the Sea; and we loved every second of it. We can't recommend this place highly enough - location, facilities, history, furnishings, garden and more. In particular, the owners, Sue and John, were perfect hosts and it's evident the great pride and love they have for Yelki by the Sea and its guests. There is so much on offer at Victor Harbor, Encounter Bay and the broader Fleurieu Peninsula. A gem of a place, we'd happily spend another two weeks here.

Couldn't have been better
The weather was cold, wet and windy but we couldn't have been more snug in front of the open fire inside this beautiful historic cottage. Wonderful hosts Sue and John (haveachat) thank you for a great weekend.

More than just accommodation, Yelki is an memorable experience.
What a wonderful place to spend a few days or a few weeks and use as a base for exploring the Fleurieu Peninsular. Clean with all the comforts of home, and more. Each room is full of character and the history of the 'inn' is easy to see and feel. Location, location, location; quiet with direct sight and access to the sea across the road. A front verandah which is great for reading or quiet contemplation. A rear, sunny and sheltered garden and lawn for the daily dose of Vitamin D, listening to the local birds and paying homage to Cadbury, the resident moggie. The hosts are extremely welcoming and 'Yelki' is a special, relaxing and memorable destination.

Thank you for the lovely review. You were great guests and we very much enjoyed having you stay - I am sure Cadbury misses you too. Yelki has a long history of attracting the people who appreciate its special magic and the Fleurieu as a tourist destination obviously has a lot to offer. You are both welcome back again anytime. Cheers ... Sue

About the neighbourhood
Victor Harbor is a relaxed, seaside town that has plenty to see and do. Take the horse drawn tram to Granite Island, hop aboard the Cockle train that runs between Goolwa and Victor Harbor with a stop at Port Elliot, or check out the SA Whale and Marine Centre. Further south, the Deep Creek Conservation Park has spectacular coastal scenery, plenty of wildlife and good bushwalking. Another favourite spot that is not far away is Goolwa - once a busy hub for paddle steamers, it stands at the mouth of the Murray River on Lake Alexandrina where you can swim, fish, cruise, sky or take a tour into the Coorong National Park.
