The Croft is a traditional stone cottage located in the heart of the Peak District National Park. It enjoys stunning picturesque views across the village and open countryside and is an ideal base for walks and day trips. The cottage combines modern facilities with the charm of the original stone features. There is parking outside the cottage. The cottage has 2 double bedrooms, sleeping up to 5 people in comfort. There is a living room with log burner, a large dining kitchen, a garden room and a large utility room. There is a downstairs toilet and upstairs there is a superbly equipped bathroom, with a walk in shower and separate feature bath. However, we are at hand if you need any advice, We have had holiday homes in the peak district for over 20 years and so can provide advice and help when requested. At the Croft there are many leaflets and maps with literally hundreds of things to do.

About the neighbourhood
Winster Village was once a thriving lead mining village that boasted 20 pubs and 2000 residents. Today it is a popular tourist destination which still retains its village community. The age old tradition of the Winster Wakes, complete with Morris dancing, still continue today.The old part of the village contains some fine historical buildings such as the Market House and the poorhouse. The hillside to the north has many of the old lead mining cottages for which the village is renowned. The roads of East Bank and West Bank are bi-sected by footpaths, known locally as gennels, that allow walkers to view beautiful cottage gardens. Getting around
The best way to get around the village is on foot and the Croft is centrally located making it easy to access the shop and pubs. The pathways also provide some stunning views of the beautiful gardens in Winster. In and around the peak district, a car is the best way to get around. However, Winster is served by a regular bus service to Matlock, which has a railway station that connects to the Midlands.

Railway: Matlock : 5.0 km
Directions from the North: From the A6 pass through Bakewell town centre and continue south on the A6 passing through Rowsley Village. Continue for a further 3 miles through Darley Dale and then turn right onto the B5057 sign-posted Winster (The Joseph Whitworth Centre a Victorian-gothic building is on the junction of this road). Winster is approximately 3 miles further along this road. Once in the village look out for the Historic Market House and immediately turn left onto East Bank. Once past the Bowling Green Pub, the road forks, take the right lane which leads to the Flat. The Croft is at the end of this road.
