But please let the owner know if you will be bringing your pet. The cottage provides unlimited Free Wifi. Arrival from 3.00 pm and departure by 10.30 am. The cottage is centrally heated throughout (guest controlled) with hot water on demand. Seating in the lounge is very comfortable. The two very attractive bedrooms have exposed beams and an original oak King Truss, with pine furniture, made by local craftsmen, comfortable mattresses and quality bedding. The garden is very steep and may not be suitable for people with restricted mobility.young children and small dogs. The shower is quite low so tall people may prefer to bathe instead. Castleton village attracts visitors who flock to see its four caves, Peveril Castle, six good pubs, many quaint tea rooms, a restaurant and a plethora of food and gift shops open all year round. All of the village hostelries serving quality food and ale are run by local residents and are within walking distance of the cottage. Oatcake is part of a friendly community village which basks in quiet and solitude. The welcoming Visitor's Centre and museum provides tourists with all the holiday information they require for an enjoyable stay in the Peak District, providing local information, maps and leaflets on the surrounding area. If you choose, you can park the car for a few days and enjoy the whole holiday entirely on foot, taking in the breathtaking scenery as soon as you leave the front door. Castleton continues to celebrate many ancient local festivals and Oak Apple Day on 29th of May is extremely popular with locals and tourists as they line the streets watching the parade pass through the village. Spring time welcomes the lambs and the village farm opens to welcome visitors to pet and feed the baby animals. For one Sunday in June the local residents open their gardens to the public. This adds to the warm welcoming attitude of residents to tourists. Christmas time is particularly special as the village holds carol singing in two of the caves led by different local brass bands. Lit Christmas trees line the streets, adding to this magical ambiance.

A fabulous place to stay
A lovely traditional old cottage with all the facilities you could wish for. The cottage was warm and welcoming in a great location, ideally situated for walking, touring or just relaxing. It was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchen and cosy living room. A fabulous place to stay.I definitely want to come here again.

Perfect cosy cottage for a perfect cosy weekend
We arrived on a very cold, windy and rainy Friday evening and found the cottage cosy and welcoming as soon as we stepped through the door! We found the kitchen equipped with everything we needed to cook and everything was clean and tidy. We had a wonderful (but cold!) walk on Mam Tor on Saturday and couldn't wait to get back to the cottage to sit by the fire with a glass of mulled wine! We chose this cottage as dogs were allowed which is hard to find. We also found that dogs are allowed in most of the pubs in Castleton too. The cottage suited our needs perfectly and we can't wait to come again in January.

Lovely, clean and cosy cottage
Great location, easy walk to the pubs. Warm clean, with everything you need for a quite peaceful weekend snuggled in the peak district. Will defiantly be coming back, we loved the chocolate coins in our welcome pack, a nice extra touch from the owner.

Lovely little cottage! Excellent Location
We had a lovely stay at Oatcake cottage! Would definitely reccommend to friends and family. It is in an excellent location, with shops and pubs less than a minute away and lots of picturesque walks nearby. Perfect for a laid back relaxing getaway with friends. The cottage itself is well equipped with plenty of storage. Particularly liked the living room with its beautiful fireplace and exposed beams. Ideal for a cosy, warm winter night in.

Quaint cottage in great location
Short stay in this very quaint cottage, within short distance of the village centre. Advantage of on-street parking outside. Very clean and tidy and the most stunning views from the back garden, however watch your step getting up there if it's wet. Ideal for walkers and explorers, with copious choices for eating out or just popping to the local pub. Also has WiFi.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your comment about the garden. We have now ordered some railings and hand rails to be installed in April. This will provide a barrier for the two patio areas and make it easier to access the levels via the steep steps, ready for the summer season. I hope you will visit again soon.

Idyllic cottage
OATCAKE COTTAGE is a beautiful stone cottage oozing with old charm and character and is comfortably furnished. It is located in the heart of Castleton and is close to local pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops selling the famous blue john gemstone jewellery. The location makes it ideal for exploring the Peak District and visiting the numerous showcaves. The cottage has a terraced rear garden with stunning views across to Man Torr and the surrounding hills.

Great little cottage
What a lovely little cottage. Very cozy and nice and warm. Very clean. Two lovely bedrooms, one double bed and one with twin beds. Perfect location in the village, everything on your doorstep. Nice little touches of milk in the fridge and tea, coffee, sugar already in the kitchen. Can't wait to stay again.

Lovely cottage in perfect location
The cottage was lovely and warm and cosy. It was kitted out with all that you needed and it was in such a great location with walking right from the door to plenty of places to eat and have a coffee or something stronger. Would definitely stay again.

Ideal location
Booked this for a weekend with friends as we love Castleton. The cottage is very clean, well equipped and perfect location. If I had to put a negative I would say that the shower is not for tall people! Very good value.

Yes so true! The thing about 17th century cottages is that the ceilings are very low. We are thinking of pulling out the bath and just having a shower room but I also know that walkers like a soak after a long day out in the hills. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay though. Best wishes, Jane

Beautiful cottage
I booked the break for my mum's 60th as she loves Castleton- couldn't believe our luck when walking into the cottage. It was lovely and comfortable for myself, my husband, mum and dad. Really comfortable, homely and inviting. Will definitely be booking again in the future.

How to get there
Oatcake Cottage, Pindale Road, Castleton, Hope Valley S338WU. Pindale road is very narrow in parts and it is easier to get to the cottage from the centre of Castleton rather than from Hope. Drive to Castleton village into the market place, then turn left into Pindale road. The cottage is on the right. All houses have names rather than numbers and Oatcake is quite near the square. There is parking outside for one car and a turning space further up Pindale road.
