Swan View is a newly refurbished cottage, originally built in 1864 (1 0f 12) by the Furness Railway for steam railway and lake cruiser employees.
The cottage is located in the Lake District National Park, behind the Swan Hotel at Newby Bridge (South of Windermere) and is an ideal base for couples or families (sleeps/dines 2+2) to explore the Lake District.
Local attractions (within walking distance) are the Swan Hotel/Spa/Pool (day membership available), marina and playground, Haverthwaite steam railway runs past the cottage to Lakeside, where the Windermere cruises can be boarded. Lakeland Motor museum is at nearby Backbarrow.

Swan View is only available for up to 140 days each year.

When you book Swan View I will send you a copy of my 'Things To Do' and 'Provisions' lists to help plan your holiday and minimise shopping. Your rental covers all costs including all beverages, breakfast cereals, cookies kids drinks and many other provisions. An honesty bar of cola, beers, wines and spirits is also available at supermarket prices, just pay in the piggy bank. On your arrival day I will meet you at Swan View, show you where everything is, answer any questions and hand over the keys. On your departure day just leave used towels in the bath, sign the visitors book and I will pop round for the keys. If you have had a great stay then please provide feedback on Tripadviser.

After reading all the reviews of Swan Cottage we were extremely looking forward to our stay and wow we weren’t disappointed. It’s absolutely beautiful, immaculately clean, modern but still with its original features and set in what I would describe as a picture postcard setting....More

We had a great stay at Swan View, the location was perfect for visiting family and exploring the surrounding countryside. The cottage had everything that we needed for five nights away plus a few extras. We enjoyed cooking in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoyed...More

Newby Bridge is a small village adjoining the River Leven at the southern end of Lake Windermere. It got its name from the five-arched stone bridge built across the river in 1651. It caters mainly for the passing tourist trade, and has a railway station on the preserved Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Newby Bridge is a convenient base to explore the Furness peninsula and southern Lakeland areas. Exit M6 at J36 and follow the A590 (South Lakes/Barrow in Furness) until you get to Newby Bridge. pass the Shell station/MACE store/deli (great if you need any shopping), then across at the roundabout (A590) on the right you will see the famous five arched bridge over the River Leven. Turn right over the bridge towards the Swan Hotel, bear left then right (Lakeside) past the side of the Swan, over the railway bridge, look for wall on right with white stones, immediate turn right into 'Private Drive'.
