There are many quirky and unusual features, from the ornate plasterwork in the sitting room to the collection of 'heads' holding up the ceiling in the master bedroom. Follow the winding paths through the private woods or climb up to the top of the fell with its magnificent views.

We just loved this house, it opened up and welcomed us in such a friendly way. The kitchen is well stocked. The bedrooms all ensuite the lounge so capable of accepting all of us without a squash. The bath was splendid. And the cake was...More

Full of character, lovely grounds, friendly hosts. A great location to explore the lakes or on a wet day it’s just lovely sitting in the cosy lounge.

The Lake Distict is an all year round visitor attraction. There is racing at Cartmel on all Bank-Holiday week-ends. Holker has its annual Garden Festival in June and has other celebrations throughout the year. There is plenty to interest garden lovers with Levens Hall, Holehird and Holker all close by. We open Eller How woodland by arrangement for the National Garden Scheme for spring flowers from February to June.The South Lakes Music Festival takes place at various venues throughout August.There is a steam train running throughout the year at Newby Bridge can take you to Lakeside for a cruise.The Motor Museum at Backbarrow has a replica of Donald Campbells Bluebird. Twitchers will enjoy a day at RSPBs Leighton Moss.
