Set in a quiet lane on the edge of this ancient village, Field Beck overlooks the great medieval Priory of Cartmel and is the sort of late Georgian house that Jane Austen might have lived in. It is a Grade II Listed building and all of its light and airy rooms have lovely views and catch the sun. The house has been lovingly restored and furnished to keep its historic character and charm.

On the ground floor is: a sitting room, with wood-stove, a dining room, a breakfast room, a scullery and a kitchen which features 1950s style stainless steel units.

On the first floor are 3 bedrooms: a twin and 2 doubles (1 with a washbasin), and a bathroom. Above is a large attic with twin beds and an extra TV.

Beneath the house are the original cellars, with stone flagged floors, an extra loo and a games room with mini-snooker and football tables....

Field Beck is our much loved second home. We have been letting it as a holiday cottage for 30 years and many of our guests come back again and again. We do not live nearby so we will not interfere with your holiday or watch over you. However we stay in contact with you to answer any questions you may have.

About the neighbourhood
Cartmel is famous for its historic village square, its racecourse and its medieval priory as well as for its 21st century gastronomic delights. It has four good pubs which serve excellent food, and the Michelin starred L'Enclume (four times voted Britain's best restaurant) is 3 minutes walk from the house.
There is a delicatessen, an artisan baker, a cheesemonger, a wine merchant, a local brewery, and a chocolatier! The village has a monthly food market and is home to the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding.
It is a great position for exploring the Lake District

The nearest station is Grange over Sands which is 3 miles away. There are several local taxis.

How to get there
Cartmel is about 15 minutes drive from Junction 36 on the M6 motorway. We have private parking space for 2 cars beside the house. A third car may be parked about 100m away on land we also own.
We supply guests with a location map so the house is easy to find.
